Star Wars Mad Libs (the perfect “parts of speech” lesson for our boys)

At our house we love Star Wars. Because I have a houseful of boys, I’m sure you’re not surprised. We have Star Wars movies, games, books, and Legos. We LOVE Star Wars Lego Sets. (And by we, I really mean they, but still.)

One of my boys just came across this Star Wars Mad Libs book on Amazon. This will be a perfect stocking stuffer. I find that Mad Libs are a fantastic way to squeeze in some fun grammar lessons with the kids. They have to think creatively to come up with nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, etc. – and it all comes together in a hilarious story. Throw Yoda and Darth Vader into the mix and well, it’ll be awesome.

If you need more than one, I also found this one and this one. And look – Indiana Jones Mad Libs! Okay, this is going to be fun. (Don’t tell they boys they’re getting an English Lesson in their stockings.)

When I was at school, the curriculum was a sort of “whole language” program that thought the kids would learn all the aspects of English just by being immersed in it. So we were never formally taught verbs, adjectives, pronouns, etc. My husband, a straight-A student all through school, couldn’t tell you what is what. But I can, thanks only to Mad-Libs! It really does work!

lol! Looks like a great idea. My boys are too young for those yet, so they’re getting socks and underwear (cartoony ones) toothbrushes, and bandaides. I’m mean like that.
