Need some fun Valentine’s Day ideas? Too bad I don’t have any for you. Just kidding. While I’ll never claim to be super crafty, I do have a few fun ideas that I’ve shared through the years here that I thought I’d remind you about.
First up, I’ll show you the “You’re The Bomb” Valentines we made last year. They were a hit with all of our friends, who thankfully, embrace the fact that we are a household full of boys who like the idea of blowing things up. ;)
This year, we printed these fun, free Valentines from Diva Entertains to share with friends at our Valentine Party. Simple, inexpensive, done.
Any excuse to make Homemade Soft Pretzels works for me. No one in my family minds if we celebrate February 14 with fresh pretzels shaped like hearts.
I’m not sure why I don’t think to make these Chocolate Caramel Truffles and Peanut Butter Truffles other times of the year beyond Valentine’s Day. Any random day should work, don’t you think? It’s always great to celebrate a regular Monday afternoon with truffles. Someone remind me of this in June.
My boys obviously liked the above “bomb” valentines more than these flower valentines, but hey, I like flowers and pink hearts, and I live here too, so there. Here’s a Valentine in “Mint” Condition, which uses a York Peppermint Patty in the center.
And speaking of York Peppermint Patties, you might have fun making Homemade Peppermint Patties this year as a special treat. Call me if you do – I’d be happy to help you eat them.
What better way to end this post than by showing a picture of myself looking rather like a dork? These “The Better to See You With” Valentines are very easy to make and are fun for your kids to give to their friends. You’ll find the pattern here, and also see a picture of my oldest almost a foot shorter than he is now, and also with much shorter hair. Where has the time gone?

Absolutely Not! Valentine’s Day is pagan, and I am not! After researching the “holiday” and where it comes from, I will never have any part in it. People make it seem “innocent” and “christian” when it is not! Jesus didn’t celebrate it, and neither am I!

WOW. Jesus didn’t do a lot of things that we do that are harmless. And he DID hang out with people who you probably wouldn’t want to hang out with. No matter where the holiday originated, today it represents LOVE, and since God is love, I have no problem spreading it around a bit.

Jesus didn’t celebrate Christmas or Easter either, but I don’t think that anyone would argue those would be bad to celebrate. If you have a conviction not to celebrate Valentine’s Day, that is fine, but you may want to be careful with giving that particular reason for not celebrating. We are suppose to love every day like Jesus did not just on a
“holiday” that has awful pagan roots. Paganism is everywhere! And as
Christians we are to separate from the world!
About Christmas and Easter. Both are pagan! The Bible never stated
that Jesus was born on December 25th, and Easter is mentioned in the
Bible b/c of the pagan ritual of celebrating Easter! Those holidays
are a lie if you are celebrating Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny!
Actually, we “celebrate Easter” every Sunday. Personally, I happen to agree that Valentine’s Day is kind of a silly holiday, because I love who I love every day. I’m also happy that Jesus was born, whenver He was, every day, and so grateful that He died for me, whatever date that happened to be. It’s too easy to get caught up in trivial matters. What’s important is that we read the word of God and DO what we are supposed to DO, and not judge. Incidentally, Jesus did celebrate Passover. Just sayin’

I don’t judge others, or condemn them. I do however judge what I
do for myself, and warn others if I feel it’s wrong. Jesus did
celebrate the passover, but not the Easter Bunny, and other non sense.
It’s really not what it means to any of us on these days, but God!

Here is a cute craft my son received last year. It’s a valentine “iPod”. You can make any playlist, but I think the nicest ones have songs like “Jesus Loves Me” and “Oh How I Love Jesus.”
So far, I’ve made heart-shaped cookies with pink sprinkles. My next fun food will be heart-shaped pancakes, thanks to a large cookie cutter. :)
