You know how you can hear something your whole life and understand it and appreciate it and be happy about it…
And then you hear it again and think more deeply about it…
And the idea suddenly seems new to you?
That’s how I feel about grace this week.
I’ve known that I was saved by grace. I’ve been thankful that Jesus loved me enough to die for me…extending his grace to me. I’ve understood that my salvation was a gift because of the grace of God.
Oh, but sometimes it’s just good to sit and think about what that all means. My Nana sent me a link to the song Amazing Grace sung by Il Divo last week…it’s beautiful. (I’m sorry I wasn’t able to embed the code for you here…you’ll have to just click over and listen.)
Grace.

That saved a wretch as me.

I’m so grateful for God’s grace…that is quite simply…amazing.

My husband, who is not religious at all, used to hum Amazing Grace to put our son to sleep on his chest. The first time it shocked the daylights out of me that he even knew the tune – but it worked so well! One night he put our (then) newborn AND me to sleep humming it. :-)
I’m so very fond of hymns… One of our family’s favorite things to do on Friday night as we prepare for Sabbath is to gather around and “sing the Sabbath in” … it’s such a blessed time.
And this completely reminded me about Lindsay’s (from Passionate Homemaking) post about choosing a “life hymn” for their children… So powerful!

This week we had a lot of traditional songs that went with the sermon. You know, a lot of people roll their eyes at the length of the songs and the wordiness, but when you really review them, you see that our forefathers (and mothers) really understood the gift of grace and the hope of our salvation. Oh to be reminded that it’s not about us; it’s about God who loves us more than we can imagine.

I always get shivers when I hear that hymn – even reading the words.
It’s not quite on topic, but on the theme of songs with the word grace in them, and it may just cause you and your readers to crack a smile.
When I was a young child, and we sang Abide O Dearest Jesus, I thought among was a verb. And I pictured Jesus with a fairy wand, amonging us with His grace. *blush*

I enjoyed reading your Guest Post: The Joys of Boys. It is so true. I had five boys in a row and now have two little girls. The childen are ages 9 to 10 months and we are currently expecting another blessing. I can AMEN your boy post but I have also enjoyed the gift of having little girls in the house. It is so neat to see how much the boys love them and protect them. Thanks again!
BTW, it is a huge difference in having so many boys in a row regarding family dynamics as opposed to families with girls mixed in or girls first then boys. I have seen it with my own eyes not to mention experiencing 5 boys first.
I am grateful for the little hands and feet that God has entrusted into my care. There is never a dull moment and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My mom sent me that video in an email last week. I posted it on my blog too! It’s absolutely beautiful!
I would have to say Ayden, my dog. He is one of the greatest points in my life now. He has no problem being himself and making me fell happy.
I absolutely love that song… I learned to play it on the bells when I was taking voice lessons… Seems like sometimes things we know, we still just take for granted..
