Gratituesday: Small Group Fellowship

For the past two years, Matt and I have been a part of helping host High School Huddle on Sunday nights. We loved filling our home with teenagers, cooking for them, and studying the Bible with them.

This year though, we decided to take a break. We’ll definitely pick it back up again – and will have plenty of opportunities since we’ll have kids in the youth group for another ten years. :)  Other parents are doing a great job with Huddle, and we decided instead to host a small group of adults on Sunday nights.

We begin our evening by sharing a meal. Our group is blessed with lots of little ones – all boys and one brave girl. This picture was taken when we noticed one of the little guys had fallen asleep on his plate. :)

Our group is full of great cooks, so the food is always plentiful and delicious! Then the real nourishment begins. We head to the living room for Bible study (while the kids play upstairs or watch a Veggie Tale). This year, our goal is to Look at Jesus, Love Jesus, and Live Jesus.

I am loving our small group! It was wonderful to be with the teens for the past two years, but I’m really enjoying fellowshipping and being sharpened by adults.

I’m curious if you participate in any small group fellowship opportunities with your church family? It is a rich time for us – fun and enriching at the same time!

We have a small group at our house every 2nd and 4th Sunday right after church. We have 19 in our group, 3 are teens, the rest adults, some retirees, some singles and some newlyweds. We love it, and I did your cook ahead turkey this week and everyone else brought sides, IT WORKED PERFECTLY!

We always talk about the morning’s sermon, it is interesting to hear all the different things that we get out of the same message.

I’ve been attending a women’s Bible study that is held late enough in the day that I can go after my husband gets home from work. It’s been such a blessing to spend time with other ladies — and moms — and to dig into God’s Word.

I joined a mom’s group that meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month. We are talking about the women of the bible. This is the first religious group I’ve been a part of in a very, very long time and I must say I am loving it. It is so nice to be part of a group that isn’t afraid to talk about deep and serious things and studying the women of the bible has been fascinating. I am definitely looking for more groups that will fit into my schedule as I really enjoy the discussion and fellowship.

We hosted a group just like yours in our home for about 5 years. Food, fellowship, and a light study while the kids played. It was a wonderful season- we met every Sunday evening, and thoroughly enjoyed our time doing so. Now we’re in a season of not doing a small group, and it’s equally wonderful. We’re enjoying the time to focus on our family.

We were part of a small group that met weekly for a couple years where we lived before. That fellowship became knit so deeply in us that we have now begun our own group here that meets in our home for lunch and fellowship after the Sunday morning worship service. It is is tremendous blessing and has brought such deep, transparent friendships that we can share anything and pray for each other. There is little as sweet as true fellowship!

We’ve never been part of a small group, but maybe we’ll look into it someday. Linked up with you, thanks!

We have a small group that we meet with on Sunday nights as well with a few other couples, and they have childcare in the neighbors house beside it. I am like you, and even though we just started it a few weeks ago, I am already really looking forward to it when we go, and really enjoying the fellowship and being able to grow closer to Jesus. Have a great week and thanks for sharing!

We meet with a small group at our church every other Friday night. We’ve been meeting for about 2 years now. It’s like an extension of our family :)

We host a few families with small children in our home on Wednesday nights. We enjoy a meal then read through the weekly Torah portion while our kids play. It is such a blessing & they have become like our “mishpacha” (Hebrew for family).

I adore our small group , its definitely one of the biggest ways I feel connected to our fairly big church.
