We began sponsoring this little darling through One Child Matters back in May. While I know that our $34 donation each month blesses Gladis in so many ways, it has been wonderful to experience the gift she is to us. We have her picture hanging on our tree – another visible reminder to pray for her.
Look! Her hair is long enough now to pull back into a pony-tail!
I obviously have nothing to do with this, but I’m still proud.
I wish you could see my boys’ faces when they talk about her. Let’s just say there’s a softness there that one doesn’t normally see when they are talking about their typical boy subjects. They love her as much as I do. (Although they weren’t as impressed with the fact that her hair now goes back into a pony-tail. Whatever.)
We made and sent her a bracelet several months ago, but I’m not sure if it will arrive in time for Christmas. Still, I know that because of our sponsorship, our family is giving our little girl Gladis the best of the best: The opportunity to learn about Jesus.
We would love for you to join us in this wonderful ministry opportunity with One Child Matters. Are you able to sponsor a child along with our family? You can choose boy or girl, any age, and from 16 different countries. Just something to think about as you consider your blessings this Christmas.
Hope you’re having a merry holiday!

Just curious how/why you picked “One Child Matters.” I have looked into sponsorship through World Vision and have sponsored through Compassion International. What made you choose this ministry? I’m looking into all my options…

All of these options are great. We chose One Child Matters for several reasons. One is because of their size. They are a smaller organization, which allows them to do more personalized projects than the larger ones. This also means that they are able to work with me on a more personalized basis to help get the word out about what they do.
Our family actually visited their headquarters a few months ago. Now we feel like we are a part of the One Child Matters family. We love them and they treat us with such care! (https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/visiting-one-child-matters-in-colorado-springs)
Getting to know so many of the One Child Matters employees personally has been the biggest reason we’ve decided to be a part of this ministry with them. These people are genuine and love the kids they are serving. It’s a huge honor to be a part of this ministry with them!
