Today I am overcome with thankfulness when I think of the teenagers (and their families) God has put in our lives to be a blessing to our children. This is no small thing. That my teenage sons have so many in their church community and homeschool community to encourage them in their spiritual walk is a tremendous joy to me. This past weekend was once again a great reminder of how wonderful it is that my boys have such great friends and opportunities to grow.

On Saturday night, high school aged homeschoolers all over our part Nebraska were invited to attend the annual Spring Formal (similar to prom). Asa (a senior) and Justus (a freshman) got all fancied up and headed out for the evening.

Asa’s friend joined them. (Yes, she is gorgeous. Her heart is beautiful as well.)

They met up with a group several miles down the road, then all drove together to meet up at “The Barn” for the Formal. They had sooooo much fun. We keep hearing more and more details of the night. They loved it.

Most of the kids in this picture are a part of our homeschool basketball team.
I loved seeing these kids who are usually in uniforms on the basketball court all dressed up posing for a picture together.

I’m so thankful for opportunities like this for my boys. I’m thankful for their friends. And I’m thankful for how God is working in these kids’ lives to grown them up His way.

What about you? What are you thankful for this Gratituesday?

Such great times and memories! Did anyone do a breakfast or bowling afterward? We homeschool as well and our church does a formal banquet. The students love to go to a house afterward for more fun! I’ve been grateful that God carries us through deep waters. http://lisaappelo.com/when-youre-walking-through-deep-waters/

Grateful for the Lord’s fingerprints where ever I go and in each situation I find myself to guide me on my parenting journey – even using the Royal Family!

Looks like they were ready to have fun! That’s great to know about all your families! It is very refreshing to see that there didn’t need to be tuxes and that all the young ladies wore very appropriate dresses! God Bless you all!

You know what struck me Laura? The beautiful and MODEST gown the lovely young lady wore standing with your son. What a blessing. I well remember those days with fondness. It only gets better Laura. Blessings to your family.

That is what I was going to comment also! It is SO wonderful to see the rare picture of a lovely young lady in a modest, feminine dress. Dressing modestly just makes her more beautiful. I am sick to death of seeing girls with everything hanging out! What a cute couple they are. I am grateful for seeing this today, and also that my grandchildren slept well last night (they are ill right now) so my daughter could sleep as well.

I’m thankful that my husband has a holiday from work today so he can stay at home with us. With two little ones in diapers I’m also thankful for the free case of diapers I’ll pick up from the store today. Thanks for sharing such a great offer with us.

Your boys are getting so grown up and handsome!
