We have had very few days at our house in the past several weeks when I have only fed our family. Almost every day, there have been extra people here to eat. Out of town guests, college students, friends, soccer players. I LOVE it! Feeding people is my favorite hobby!
Do any of the rest of you feel like feeding people is a fun hobby? (Or do some of you feel like it’s a dreaded chore?!)

If I get a round tuit, I’m hoping to write a marathon of posts in the next few days so that I can get caught up on all the posts I feel behind on. I’ve got a giveaway, a new recipe, more about grain mills, Gratituesday of course, and something like five other posts waiting to be finished and posted. Keep checking back all week to see if I actually get it all done. It all depends on if I get a round tuit. (Yes I know. I already HAVE a round tuit.) :)

Yummmmm!!!!! I have to admit cooking can be a chore for me. I work full-time. :-( so it’s hard to work and then come home ad cook, take care of the kids, etc.
I’d love to see the recipe for the cheesy chicken and sloppy cornbread. I made cornbread from the box this week to have w/our chili, I’ve tried to make cornbread from scratch and it never has enough flavor.
I have a guess for sloppy cornbread – sloppy joes over cornbread. Could it be that easy? :>)
The link for Lynn’s no bake bars goes to the popcorn chicken . . .
THank, Lenetta. It should be fixed now!! :)
Wow…learn to proof read already Laura! THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
I can tell you love to cook just by your menu plans! I on the other hand don’t love it as much. I enjoy having company over, but usually am still a little stressed on how things will turn out, if there will be enough etc.
But generally we eat a TON more simply then you guys (much less protein) just because that’s how I prefer to eat and it’s not as much time in the kitchen! :)
I love to cook first and foremost for my family and then for anyone else who crosses my path! With 4 small children in our home, I struggle with getting all the cooking done . . . I love to cook from scratch but it is time consuming! How does everybody else do it?
I love to cook as long as I have time to shop and prepare meals like I have planned. Lately, shopping is difficult especially getting to the produce market where fruits and veggies are great prices but only open till 5:30 where traffic is horrendous. I try to enlist family with helping but I need it weekly not when they can fit it in.
I work full time and feed 4 (hubby and me 45, 19 daughter and 17 “baby boy”), and I love to have guests over, as far as they are planned : except for my daughter’s darling who is now part of the family (I just put one more plate and we share..). I plan my menus/shopping list on Thursdays and I cook as many meals as I can on saturdays and sundays to stock in the fridge or to freeze : I’m so happy to just warm our dinner when I come back late sometimes… I love to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, cooking alone, or with one of the family members : that is so relaxing.
This week we’ll have for example Apple pork chops with mashed potatoes and brocoli, quiche lorraine (a tart made with bacon, eggs, milk and cheese) green salad, fish croquettes with zucchini, slowcooker beans and chicken that needs just thawing and warming…
Great menu plan this week.I love to cook. I bake throughout the week and drop off goodies for friends. And I always offer to make food for any and every occasion.
I am so glad you like those cookie bars. They are a favorite in our house. They are quick, easy, and good.
Hi, Laura. Thanks for posting your menu for the week. I always see something I want to try. I have a question about Lynn’s no bake cookie bars. The recipe calls for quick oats, but I’m wondering if you have tried old fashioned oats?
Yep! All I have in my house are the old fashioned oats and they work great!!
Mmm, Chicken Fried Steak! One of my husband’s favorites!
Looks like you have a yummy week planned.
Have a great Halloween or Harvest Festival!
I’ll have to try those no bake cookie bars, they look so good!
Great menu plans Laura!! one day i will challenge myself and put together a menu plan for my family…
Quick question…I LOVE the recipe for the no bake cookie bars and I’m wanting to try them out. I was wondering what you use for the sugar? Did you use sucanat or honey or some kind of combination? We don’t even have white sugar in our house and 2 cups of sugar still seems like a lot to me so I just wondered what you used. I was thinking of maybe doing some honey and some sucanat and seeing how that goes??? Thanks!
