Who Has a Favorite Pen? Everyone, Right?

I have a favorite pen. I know I’m not the only one. You also have a favorite pen, right?

For whatever reason, my nicest handwriting, my best brainstorming, and my most meaningful journaling times are when I’m using my favorite pen. This may be as weird as my “can’t handle sticker on produce” issues so if you don’t also have a favorite pen…just whatever. Not all pens are created equal and if it isn’t my Pentel, I just can’t write nicely. This is for real.

pentel

I really prefer a black pen (thanks for asking) but the colored ones are fun too. They have these squishy finger grippers that are just right for, you know, gripping. If I lose the lid to my pen, it ruins the entire writing experience because while I’m writing, the lid to my pen must be securely on the end of the pen or I just can’t hold it correctly. This is also for real.

I should probably stick to blogging recipes and homemaking stuff because writing about my weirdness may scare people away. Though I, for one, think that good pens are a part of homemaking. The best grocery lists are written with pens like these. And they are certainly a part of my healthy spiritual walk (reference the meaningful journaling times above).

Well, all that to say: If you don’t have a favorite pen, maybe you’d like my favorite pen to become your favorite pen? Then we can {squeal!} be pen pals (except not the actual kind who write letters to each other, because while I love the idea of that, I stink at writing letters to people. I’m not proud of this.)

So there I was, looking at Amazon for organic food coupons (found this one for coconut oil) – and would you believe I came across a coupon for a whole pack of my favorite pens?! Indeed. Be still my heart.

I’m going to grab a couple of packs to use for all the reasons I love these pens, plus to share with the teen girls at church camp I’ll be teaching in a few weeks. I figure they might not yet have a favorite pen so I need to take advantage of these moments during their formative years.

Please tell me you have a favorite pen.

I am a teacher, so yes, I love pens! And my favorites are yours, although I prefer blue and colors. I also love paper! And stickers! And the smell of brand, new textbooks! Right now, I am homeschooling, and we were just recently at our homeschool convention. I was at a used book table, looking for our science curriculum, and yes! Praise the Lord! There it was! But I had to pick it up and see if it smelled like a new textbook, because it looked like one. How embarrassing when I looked up and saw another mom looking at me from across the table. She said, “Does it smell like new? I love that smell too!” Phew! She knew right where I was coming from. :D

Love it! You’re not alone. Really old books smell great, too. :)

Oh my, I’m not the only one! I actually have two favorite pens. My first love is an old blue and silver Pentel click pen that I got in Jr high school (nearly 35 years ago). Umpteen refills later, yes it still works. :) My new love is a fat green cutie with Tigger all over it. The clip on the side is even a Tigger. It obviously doesn’t write as good as my old Pentel, but it’s so adorable. I love them both!

So glad that I’m not the only one!

I do love RSVP pens, although I’ve made the transition to the Papermate InkJoy 100ST for the colored pens. They write smooth and have great color!

I also love me some Flair felt tips. And I use a fine point Zebra for writing in my Bible. :D

As my husband says I have a pen problem. We are in bible school together and at the beginning of the year I always buy a packet of colorful pens because I like my notes to be bright and colorful. I’m the girl who has roughly 20 brand new pens every school year, so I may have a problem. but, it keeps me entertained while taking note for class.. I like the pentel pens, but I also really like the pilot fine tip in black. And yes I agree you have to have the lid on the end or it just doesn’t work the same way.

I don’t have a favorite *brand* of pen, per se. What I DO love is a medium ball point BLACK ink pen with a click top. As long as it writes smooth and in BLACK ink, I’m a happy girl! I don’t like to write in colored ink – I think it smudges too much. My mom always said to never sign your name in red ink; it’s like you’re signing in blood. How depressing, right?

I DO have a favorite pen, but they aren’t made anymore…SO when we were at Walmart today, I looked for YOUR favorite! But they don’t carry ’em.

May I ask whether and where you’ve found these at a store, please? And I’m in dire need of a new purple pen, especially for my Bible Study guide, since my old pen died, so these would fill that need, too.

And thank you for the smiles you gave me today—again!

Those are my favorite pens too! I always feel like writing with the Pentel RSVP pens makes writing a joy instead of a chore. We must be soulmates ;)

G2 pens. I like the shades of blue especially, but I avoid using any other pen when possible. :)

Lol! Laura, you’re just awesome! Yes, I too have a favorite pen. It came in a “gift bag” I got from the doctors’ office during one of my pregnancies. I have stocked up during each subsequent pregnancy. And, yes, I totally agree that if a pen has a lid it must be on top of the pen while writing or it just doesn’t write properly. Totally. :)

You are not alone. I am a pen snob! If it doesn’t write nice or fit in my grip right.. it’s ignored!

I love these because I don’t have to worry about losing the cover. Although, that extra weight on the end of the pen really makes a nice difference. :) I’m a Plain Jane in most areas of life, but there is just something fun about writing with various colored pens when writing notes or journaling.

Yes! The Pentel R.S.V.P. in my favorite too, but I must have it in purple with a fine line! I also homeschool so it could just be that us homeschoolers got an extra special crazy jean that makes us fussy about our pens and love pretty notebooks and paper. I will confess one of my weird obsessions for you…. I buy my kids composition notebooks on clearance at the end of summer to save money but I think they are soooo ugly I can’t stand looking at them! So I bought a couple packs of scrapbook paper (okay more than a couple but they too were on clearance) to cover them with so they are pretty! Really, how many people really care what their kids notebooks look like?? So I spend a couple hours before school starts tracing, cutting, and glueing the scrapbook paper on the .25 comp notebooks because homeschooling three kids and living on a farm I have nothing else to do with my time!! BTW, for those of you out there who are now going to jump on my crazy train and try this, Mod Podge works best :D

YES!!!! I totally agree with you. The RSVPs are beyond my favorite, but I’m a blue girl and seriously dislike black ink. And as for the cap… it has to be on top of the pen while writing, because if not it throws off the balance and I cant write as neatly ;).

I’m so glad I am not the only one, because people always look at me funny about my pens!
