Sadness

May 24, 2008 by Laura 19 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

We received a phone call this morning to let us know that my cousin and his wife were killed tragically in an accident last night. It’s amazing how something like this can put life into perspective.

We quickly left and headed to Kansas to be with our family.

I won’t be posting for a couple of days, but I wanted to request your prayers. I’ll resume posts on Monday night with Gratituesday.

Certainly, even during sadness and tragedy…there is much to be grateful for.

God is good.

I’m so sorry, Laura – I assume I know what happened. I read an article about the accident online and noticed the last name was one I recognized from singing school as a kid and thought there was probably a church connection. I hadn’t realized you were related. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

    Laura,
I am so very sorry for your loss and for all those who knew and loved your cousin and her husband. I asked for prayers for you all at church this morning. We are a small rural church in Kentucky but God hears from all corners of the earth and he knows whose heart is hurting. I’m praying he will comfort you and your family.

When I hear of these types of stories, my heart immediately begins to pray for so many things. I pray that they knew the Lord & are home with HIM now. I pray for travel mercies as you go to be with your family. I pray for understanding & peace in what happened. I pray for comfort through such a trying time. I pray that even through this, HIS blessings are noticed & accepted. May God be with you all!!!

The kids and I have been praying for you since you posted this.

Psa 46:1 …. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    Psa 46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Psa 46:3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

May God be faithful to His Word for you and your family; a very present help, strength, and a refuge!

    Laura,
I am so sorry to hear of your family’s loss. These kinds of things don’t make sense to us, but our God makes no mistakes and has infinite wisdom in all He does. May He be your refuge during this time, and I pray that all who are hurting are ultimately brought closer to Him through this event.
    Love in Christ,
    Candace
