Get Ready for Winter With This!! {Time Sensitive!}

November 5, 2019 by Laura Leave a Comment

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

You all know how much I love, need, and use MadeOn products! So I asked Renee (owner and creator) if she would be so kind as to offer us something great to help us get ready for winter. She said yes, and here’s what we put together to protect our skin from harsh winter conditions:

Get Ready for Winter!

My skin gets terribly dry in the winter, and regular lotion (I tried them all!) made it worse. So when I discovered MadeOn several years ago and their BeeSilk Hard Lotion worked instantly, I was overjoyed!

What made it even better is the fact that BeeSilk and all the MadeOn products are made with only a few ingredients – and all of them are pure and safe.

I’ve been hooked on MadeOn ever since and never leave the house without it. I always keep a big supply of their products on hand because now the entire family uses them!

So here’s the offer Renee came up with for us to get us ready for winter. It’s got a great big freebie with it AND free shipping too – whoo!

  1. Add $35 worth of MadeOn products to your shopping cart (I recommend stocking up on BeeSilk Lotions and Lip Balms)
  2. Once your cart has reached $35, add the Simply Shea Facial Emollient to your cart.
  3. Apply the code HHFREESHEA at checkout, which will take off the entire price ($14.75!!) of the Simply Shea.
  4. Enjoy free shipping because you’ve got over $45 worth of product in your cart!
Expires at 11:59 P.M. PST on Friday, November 8th. Tuesday, November 19!

What’s special about Simply Shea?

I’ve sung the praises of BeeSilk Hard Lotion for so long that you might wonder why I specifically asked Renee to offer a deal including the Simply Shea Facial Emollient. Here’s why:
I got to try it back in September and quickly learned that it’s as great and as necessary to keep on hand as the BeeSilk Lotion! I rub it on my face to protect it from drying out in this already harsh wintery weather. And while I’m at it, I often rub some onto my hands too. I know it’s supposed to be for the face, but it works for hands too, and I’m often in a hurry. So Simply Shea on the face AND the hands as needed!
I’ve fallen in love with Simply Shea, just like I did the BeeSilk Hard Lotion so many years ago. Therefore, as soon as Renee sent me this offer, I put in my order for $35 worth of goodies so I could enjoy them along with my FREE Simply Shea Facial Emollient. Our skin will be well protected this winter! (And for the record, since I’m already stocked up on BeeSilk products, to take advantage of this deal this time I added extra Simply Shea to my cart, along with the Baby Rash Cream to use on our itt-bitty guys.)
Head here to take advantage of this wonderful offer! This ends Friday, November 8 Tuesday, November 19 so don’t wait and miss out!

I Found a Solution to my 45-Year Old Eyelash Issues! (Win a $25 Jenuiniely Pure Gift Certificate!)

October 3, 2018 by Laura 23 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

I was the girl who had long, thick eyelashes. They needed no make-up. They made my blue eyes stand out without any help. And then I got older.

Suddenly I realized my eyes looked tired. It was then that I noticed my eyelashes had started to disappear. Aha! Hello, 45-year old self. You no longer have thick, lush eyelashes. You have exactly two lashes left (fine, I exaggerate). And while in the big scheme of things, this is very much a trivial matter, I still spent at least 5-minutes to consider what might be done about this.

Rest assured, my husband has always – and still does – proclaim that his favorite color is “the color of my wife’s eyes.” This makes the college soccer girls he coaches swoon and gush and run over to examine my eyes the next time they see me. Indeed, Matt cares very little about my current lack of lashes, so the issue is mine alone. And while most of the time I don’t think twice about such petty matters, I decided that a little mascara from time to time might be fun. You know, just to make my eyes not look so tired. (Tired? I’m not tired.)

Therefore, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect for me to receive a non-toxic Eye Make-Up Remover from Jenuinely Pure. It works beautifully, and I am completely assured that I’m not wiping anything dangerous into my eyes.

Meanwhile, Jenuinely Pure sent me Body Wash, Baby Wash, Foaming Hand Soap, and a Moisturizing Body Scrub. They are fabulous, and here’s why:

  • Their products are high quality with only pure ingredients
  • They use organic ingredients when available
  • They include nourishing handmade botanical extracts
  • They contain NO harmful or questionable ingredients, no artificial fragrances or perfumes, no parabens, phthalates, or sulfates, and no genetically modified ingredients

So yes. I will gently and confidently wash the mascara off my few remaining lashes with such a safe product.

And what about that Baby Wash, you ask? Well, the timing is perfect to receive that too, seeing as we have a 4-year old living with us now. Plus we frequently have babies in our care as we have been trying to help a single mom get on her feet. I give a lot of little people baths now, so I am loving the use of this gentle and safe Baby Wash!

The teens and adults in the family are loving the Body Wash and Foaming Hand Soap. And as soon as I find a few extra minutes, I am going to enjoy the Moisturizing Body Scrub they sent!

And with that, it is time for you to get very excited!

Jenuinely Pure is giving us all a 20% discount on our purchases!! Yep! If your lashes need love like mine do, or if you need any of their great products, take advantage of this offer! Receive 20% any online order by entering “HEAVEN20” in the coupon code box.

And guess what else? This week they are giving two of you a $25 Gift Certificate to the Jenuinely Pure! Sign up in the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Giveaway ends Tuesday, October 9. I’ll send an email to reveal the winners!

Don’t forget to take advantage of the 20% discount!

Special thanks to Jenuinely Pure for sponsoring this review, and especially for the discount and giveaway!

That One Time I Tried to Make My Own Dishwasher Detergent

July 12, 2016 by Laura 8 Comments

It was such a good idea. I was going to make these and give some away and use them always as a way to save money on dishwasher detergent.

Yep. It was a great idea.

dishwasher soap fail

I’m not sure what I did wrong. I’m sure it had nothing to do with how I skimmed over the recipe and rushed to get it done before leaving for a trip. It probably wasn’t that I tried popping the tabs out of my ice cube tray before they were fully dried.

Now I have a solid rock of dish soap on a plate. Once I get it to ever dissolve off of there, that is going to be the cleanest plate ever. But let’s just say, Laura won’t be sharing this recipe yet with you because something went terribly wrong.

Do you make your own dishwasher detergent? I want to!!! But I don’t want to use Borax. I’d be happy with a recipe for any form of liquid, powder, or tabs. I just think it will be a nice way to save money and avoid toxins.

If you have a great non-toxic dishwasher detergent recipe idea, will ya share?

Safe, Non-Toxic Bug Block and Beesilk Hard Lotion – Free With Purchase Plus a Very Generous Giveaway!

Funny story:

One morning a few weeks ago, before heading out for a full day of soccer games in the sun and wind, I smeared MadeOn Beesilk Hard Lotion all over my face. I planned to rub some into my hands as well, but figured I’d do it after I’d fed the family and washed the dishes. However, as soon as breakfast was over we rushed out the door. Therefore, my plan to put Beesilk on my hands was forgotten.

Fast forward a few soccer games and a few hours later. I was back at my house, wind blown and hungry. We had an extra family at our house that evening, and that family included a very cute five year old boy. As I was cutting up his meat for him at dinnertime, he looked down at my hands and said, “Wow. You have really old hands.” I looked at my hands and saw what he saw. My hands were super dry and ugly. Old lady hands indeed. ;)  The little guy then looked up at my face. “Your face looks young though, so that’s good.”

Alrighty then. Beesilk keeps my face young. And not applying Beesilk to my hands makes my hands old. Fair enough. You’ve gotta love the honesty of a child. Amazing that Beesilk works so well as to make that big of a difference, huh?

That night, I applied Beesilk to my hands liberally. I now have “young” hands again. Ha!

I always keep a nice supply of Beesilk Hard Lotion on hand for my hands, face, arms, legs, and feet. I love the stuff and how well it works. And I love that it’s completely healthy for our skin.

Now let’s talk a minute about Bug Block. I don’t want my family eaten up by mosquitos, nor do I want to spray my family down with toxic chemicals to keeps the bugs away. The solution? MadeOn Bug Block.  I love it! It’s perfectly safe for our skin, and it really works well to keep the mosquitos away.

I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have heard of MadeOn. Their products work incredibly well, their customer service is wonderful, their prices are very reasonable, and the ingredients they use to make their products are perfectly safe for our skin.

I contacted Renee at MadeOn last week to see if she might be interested in offering all of us a little bonus…or maybe a giveaway. She came back with both! :)

Leave a comment on this post if you’d like to win one of two $25 MadeOn Gift Certificates. Super generous! I’ll draw two random winners on Monday, June 9. Be watching for a post stating the winners as you’ll be responsible for contacting me if your name is chosen.

This offer is good through the month of June. Shipping is free on orders of $45 or more.

Homemade Liquid Hand Soap

March 13, 2014 by Laura 7 Comments

Have you tried making the Liquid Hand Soap recipe I have here on my site? It will save you a lot of money, and it’s very easy to make! Your kids can help. Who wouldn’t love grating a bar of soap? :)

Homemade Liquid Hand Soap

Homemade Non-Toxic Liquid Hand Soap

4 ounce bar of natural soap (I used a bar of coconut oil soap from Tropical Traditions. Any natural bar of soap would work.)
1 gallon of water

Heat the water in a pot, just long enough to steam. Grate the bar of soap with a cheese grater. Take the steaming water off the heat. Immediately pour the grated soap into the water. Stir the mixture, then let it sit for about 15 minutes. Use a hand mixer to blend the soap and water mixture well. Let it sit overnight. The next morning, use the hand mixer again to blend well. Pour mixture into a soap dispenser for use. Save remaining hand soap in a gallon jug.

You can check out the entire picture tutorial here.  You’re well on your way to saving lots of money on non-toxic hand soap!

What Are You Putting On Your Skin? Win a Great Package of L’BRI Products

October 24, 2013 by Laura 234 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

L'BRI Skincare Set
You all know that I go all out when it comes to my facial cleansing routine, using moisturizer, and applying make-up. And by all out, we all know that I really mean that I’m…out. All out.  I don’t use anything. I wash my face with a non-toxic soap. I use coconut oil for moisturizer when I need it. And I haven’t worn make-up for years. I am as exciting as they come. {yawn}

BUT, I know that there are many of you who prefer a better skin care plan. I’m excited to talk to you about L’BRI products that I was recently able to review. But first, let’s talk about skin.

Since our youngest son was born almost nine years ago, we’ve learned more about skin than we ever wanted to know. His severe eczema helped us understand how crucial it is to care for our largest organ – skin. Whatever goes on the skin is absorbed into our body. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what it is. So many skin care products contain chemical ingredients that might seem fine when applied topically, but what about what happens once it enters our body through the skin?

Don’t let it over-whelm you (good luck). Just be aware that everything from soap to laundry detergent to shampoo to make-up is absorbed into our body through our skin. Therefore, we want to choose products that are less harmful. There are plenty of products on the market now that are working to provide great options that are healthier for our bodies!

L’BRI is a company I found out about that is doing just that. Here is just a small piece of information I found on their website about their products:

  • Are paraben free
  • Never use (SLS) sodium lauryl sulfate or propylene glycol
  • Never use mineral oil, lanolins, or waxes
  • Never use artificial colors or fragrances
  • Are never tested on animals
  • Effective for all skin types: normal, oily, dry, men, and women.
  • Backed by the L’BRI PURE n’ NATURAL 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

Read more about the L’BRI company and products here. From skin care to cosmetics, L’BRI has a high quality line of items that you can trust. I also find it very nice that you can order just what you need and have it delivered to your door. (I’m all about shopping from the comfort of my home.)  I highly encourage taking advantage of the free samples to see how you like the products. Simply pay shipping, and the samples will be on their way to you.

Today, Caroline, an independent consultant with L’BRI is giving away a great package which includes a facial masque and a holiday makeup compact kit. How fun!

L'BRI Facial Masque  L'BRI Holiday Compact Makeup Case - Perfect For The Holidays!

(Subscribers, click the title of this post in your email to come to my website to sign up.)  For additional entries, Like Caroline’s Facebook page and/or subscribe to her blog. Leave a second comment here if you do either of those.

I’ll draw a random winner on Monday, October 28. Be watching for a post stating the winner as you will be responsible for contacting me if your name is chosen!

Save Your Dry Hands! Win a $50 Gift Certificate for MadeOn Lotion – Plus a Discount!

October 11, 2012 by Laura 782 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

It is that time of year again. My hands start getting dry and cracked. And then they start to bleed and feel miserable.

Oh wait…not any more.  While I had struggled with that issue all my life, ever since I began using MadeOn Hard Lotion Bar, my hands have been absolutely fine during the long winter months. It has been amazing.

I’ve recommended MadeOn Hard Lotion to so many people who struggle with dry skin, and even with eczema, and they are all amazed at how well it works. (Most see a difference within only two days. It was even less than that for me.)  The best part is that it is made with three pure ingredients (coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter). It is completely safe and healthy for our skin.

MadeOn also makes Lip Balm that I love. It’s great, and so good for your skin that you could eat it and it wouldn’t hurt you. (Not that I do…eat it. But I’m just sayin’ that you could…eat it.)

Renee, at MadeOn, is always great to work with. She’s created a special 10% off discount code for Heavenly Homemakers readers. Enter HH2012 at check-out. Plus, if you spend more than $25, you’ll automatically receive a free tinted lip balm. (We got to test one out recently – love it!)

Not only that, she’s offering to give away one $50 gift certificate to one of you today! Think of the fun you could have with that! (And the really nice, soft hands.)  Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win. (If you are a subscriber, you will need to click over to the post and leave a comment. Emailing me will not gain you an entry.)  Join the MadeOn Facebook page for an extra entry, leaving a second comment here to let me know that you did. I’ll draw a random winner on Monday, October 15. Be watching for a post stating the winner as you will be responsible for contacting me if your name is chosen.

The 10% discount at MadeOn is good through October 31. Take advantage and save your hands this winter!

Safe Bug Block and Why We Want to Avoid Toxic Bug Block

June 23, 2011 by Laura 553 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

Oh, mosquitos. They are horrible, making a fun picnic or outing much less fun. Bug block to the rescue, right? Sure. But is all bug block safe for our skin?

I’m super picky about anything that goes on our skin. Why? Because our skin is our largest organ. Because what goes on our skin goes into our body. Because what goes into our body effects our overall health. Thanks to our son, Malachi, we’ve learned how to treat our skin well so that our overall health will be better. It really is amazing how important it is to take care of our skin.

So while I’m not a fan of mosquitos, I’m even less a fan of spraying harmful chemicals all over my family to avoid bug bites. From Parkinson’s to cancer to behavior issues, I feel that the possible issues that we can face as a result of bug spray are not worth the risk.

I’ve told you all about how the MadeOn Lotion Bar has saved my poor, dry, broken out hands and have made them continually soft and free of pain. I love MadeOn and am so thankful to have learned about their wonderful company and products.

Recently, I had the chance to try the MadeOn Bug Block, which is just as safe, just as non-toxic, just as easy to use as their Hard Lotion Bar that I love. Not that this matters one way or the other with how it works, but can I just say how much I love the way Bug Block smells? Yes, it really smells good. Even my boys said this, and trust me – my boys aren’t so much into caring about how products smell. (Unless it’s bacon…)

made on bug block
Great, so it smells good – but how does it work? Well, here’s my story:

Last week, we sent Asa (our 14 year old) outside with orders to remove all of the green overgrowth on one side of our house – not a fun job, and one that is typically quite mosquito filled. I handed him the MadeOn Bug Block and had him rub it all over his arms and neck and face. He spent a good part of the morning outside with vines and mosquitoes for company. Fun.

Later, I went out briefly to help all the younger boys haul off all the branches and vines that Asa had taken care of earlier. I really only planned to be outside long enough to give some direction, so I didn’t take the time to use the Bug Block. Mistake. I ended up staying out longer and helping more than I had intended, so one hour and several mosquito bites later, I came back inside.

While I tried not to scratch, I asked Asa how the Bug Block had worked. His response was, “Hmm. I don’t think I got bit at all while I was out there. Maybe there just weren’t any mosquitoes?”

Oh no. The mosquitoes were there. I didn’t see them either, but I felt them. Remind me to put on Bug Block next time. It totally kept the mosquitoes away from Asa.

So that’s my MadeOn Bug Block story. It works and it’s completely non-toxic and safe for you and your kids. How wonderful that we can take care of our skin and avoid bugs at the same time. Summer is saved!
