This post is the first of several that will answer your questions here. :)
Josette said: You always make me laugh…so I am thinking your sense of humor is the same as mine (I could be totally wrong), just wondering what your favorite “funny movie” is?
I am SO SORRY that this is the most boring answer ever and surely not the one you were hoping for.
I can’t even think of the name of any funny movie. Although Veggie Tale movies always crack me up. Love the humor in those. I’m guessing that’s not quite what you meant?
Watching movies is one of my least favorite activities. I don’t know why. I don’t like sitting still for that long (unless I’m blogging/writing or reading a good book).
I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what my favorite funny movie is. I even asked Matt, “Hey, what’s my favorite funny movie?” Blank stare. Yeah, he likes movies as much as I do.
Isn’t that pitiful?
Why don’t you all tell me what YOUR favorite funny movies are and maybe I’ll watch them and say, “AH!! That WAS funny!!!”
What great movies am I missing out on?!?
Sharon asked: What skin care products and make-up (if you wear it), do you use? Where do you purchase it?
You can read about my favorite Soaps and Sundries here. Otherwise…there isn’t too much more to tell.
Here is my daily skin care routine: I wash my face with Tropical Traditions coconut soap. I then rub on some Tropical Traditions lotion. The end.
On Sundays and special occasions, I go all out and wear mascara (just the gross stuff from Walmart).
I used to never leave the house without make-up thinking that I could never get away without “having my face on”. Now (mostly because my husband really doesn’t care for me to wear make-up because he really – thankfully – likes my natural look) I just don’t wear it. I LOVE not messing with it.
If any of you have any natural make-up products you’d recommend…do tell!
Dani asked: What is your favorite vacation memory with your family and what are your vacation traditions? Especially in the car with FOUR boys.
Well, we have never actually gone on a vacation that doesn’t involve a family get-together of some sort. At this point though…those are the best kind of vacations.
Every other year we travel to California to visit Matt’s family. We’ve been able to go to Disneyland several times thanks to Matt’s brother who works for The Mouse (that would be Mickey).
It always cracks us up when we go to CA in the wintertime. Everyone there is wearing a long wool coat and apologizing that we had to come out for a visit “when it’s SO cold”. Yep, that 50° to 70° weather is just a killer on us Nebraskans. We hardly know what to do with ourselves without the wind chill factor.
Oh, and the day after Christmas several cousins always like to plan a trip to drive three hours to the snow!!!! ‘Cause wouldn’t that be fun to play in snow together?
Yes, I suppose it would if we didn’t have to “play in the snow” with a shovel in order to get out of our driveway on a regular basis. Couldn’t we just not drive to the snow and play together in the yard? In a t-shirt?
Other than those fine pieces of vacation information…I’ve got nothin’. Unless you count this trip… Yeah, that was a good one.
As far as traveling in a car with four boys…you can just imagine the musical numbers I must put up with. Need I say more?

Hmmmm. You know, I don’t really like to watch movies all that much. ( I think I have add or something) If I do watch a movie, I like to keep my hands busy with sewing or the like.
Let’s see a favorite funny movie…I do like “Princess bride” and will quote from that movie (especially with my sisters).
Now, one movie that cracked me up (only the first time I watched it..not the second time) was, “The gods must be crazy”.
I havent’ seen it in years so if you do decided to watch it make sure you preview it first (it has a african tribe in it and I am not sure if the rules of modesty are broken!).
Josette says
…most of the time, if I watch movies it’s a kid movie.
I was laughing at “the Shaggy dog” with Tim Allen. My 4 yr old was giggling so hard that it made me laugh too.

I’m with you…Veggie Tale movies crack me up! At least they add some humor to keep the parents entertained!
“Is it my imagination, or does Aunt Ruth have a beard?” LOL

Ok, I finally got around to checking out Tropical Traditions and I was considering trying it for my son, Matthew. He has terrible allergies and his skin is VERY dry and he has a constant rash on his arms. Did the soap really help Malachi that much? Should I try the lotion too or is Eucerin fine? I grease him with Eucerin every night but he is still “lizardy”. Poor guy :(
Laura says
I’d say that the soap didn’t “fix” his rash…it is just the ONLY soap I’ve found that doesn’t make it worse. I trust it. You can try the lotion (unscented)…BUT what I’ve been doing recently that seems to works best (again, doesn’t fix it, just helps keep him less dry) is just rubbing TT’s coconut oil on him right after his bath. Tropical Traditions coconut oil is so pure and good. I just love it.

Laura,
I don’t know for sure if this will help you. I used to work with a company named Melaleuca. They have and AMAZING lotion called Renew. You can watch this video to learn more, if you’d like: http://content.melaleuca.com/Introduction/ . While I no longer work with Melaleuca, I do believe in the lotion and what it’s done for my husband and others who use it. I’ve never seen it’s equal. Never. The drawback is, to buy the lotion, you do have to be a member. There is two different kinds of membership. To get preferred pricing, you have to sign up to buy a certain amount each month, but you can also sign up for I think it’s called direct membership. It’s a way to buy things when you want, and how much you want. I still have that kind of membership. As I said, I don’t know if this will help, but they are an “all natural” type company, and they do an amazing job with the lotion department. Becky C

hey there! I use olive oil on my babys skin. She always used to have a bad rash but i felt bad putting anything on it so my mom suggested olive oil! It works not as good as store bought creams but its safer in my opinion :)
Stacey says
I’d have to caution you on the Melaleuca lotion though. I also have severe
eczema, and I am super sensitive to tea tree oil, which is what Melaleuca is
all about. It just made my skin worse!

I love the Madagascar movies. I think they are so cute, and hilarious. Madagascar 2 is my husband and I’s favorite movie of all time!

I love the movie Steel Magnolias. It’s not really a comedy but has a lot of funny lines. I also love the movie You’ve Got Mail, I think you’d like that one a lot. For the Holidays, Elf is really funny. This isn’t a comedy at all, but if you haven’t seen A Nativity Story, I highly recommend it.
I’m sure there are lots more I could come up with if I thought about it for a while. Oh, What About Bob- that’s really funny too.

Milo & Otis comes to mind for funny movies, especially for the child-friendly household =)
But then, we like Moody Science and Mr. Fix-It… along with the gory war & history movies.
I think y’all would be shocked by my list of likes/dislikes/never seen/wish I’d never seen. (I managed a video store BEFORE CHRIST… um, back when you could still rent a Beta)
Jean says
It took me YEARS to give myself permission not to go to the movies – there’s such pressure at times to keep up with what’s current in the movies. I always hated going – didn’t like my feet sticking to the floor, didn’t like being distracted by folks talking and texting all around me, didn’t like that I couldn’t get up and walk around or go to the LR without missing something. Now I know it’s “okay” not to enjoy it and not to go. Good for you for saying it, too! If something is free and on TV I’ll watch it – but buzz around during the ads and TURN IT OFF if I’m not enjoying it!

Laura may I suggest an eyelash curler? I have dark enough lashes that if I just curl them (30 painLESS sec. on each eye)I look a bit more feminine and don’t have to worry about rubbing or laughing till I cry, or even really crying.
My routine is the same. Wash. Moisturize. Curl.
If you still want mascara, there is a ‘tint’ mascara I think by neutrogena. It tints them and there never is any smudging or even anything to wash off by the end of the day.
Laura says
Ah, good idea. I’ve never used one before. Kinda scared of it. Really, it’s painless? Are you sure I won’t grab my entire eye lid and eye brow and eye ball with the thing?
Shelly W. says
Totally painless…..especially if you don’t use it in conjunction with mascara! Give it a whirl and you will end up with eyes that say “Come Hither” to your hubby!! He will love it! LOL
Sharon says
Favorite movie of all time, this is a no-brainer for me– Pride and Prejudice. Not the most recent Hollywood version, but the BBC edition. Oh! So! Good! I will warn you, it’s 5 hours long! It took me 3 sessions to watch it. I could have stretched it to 4 days, but my husband was watching it with me (and enjoying it too) and he could have watched the entire thing in one evening–yes, it’s true, he’s a hard-core movie watcher. :o) A capital movie, indeed!

If you are looking for totally natural makeup, try this: http://thepureboutique.com A friend of mine makes it, and it’s awesome! She has a natural mascara as well.
