A thousand great big thank yous to everyone who sent in delicious pie recipes for HeavenlyHomemaker’s FREE new ebook….For the Love of Pie!

Because of you…this great ebook is filled with thirty-one recipes for pie crusts, apple pies, other fruit pies, dinner time pies and ALL kinds of pies!!!!!

Regarding a winner for the OMWTITBPIEEPie (Oh My Word This is the Best Pie I’ve Ever Eaten Pie) I decided that I couldn’t decide. (And I felt okay about that decision.)  I mean…really…do you think YOU could have decided? What was I thinking when I decided to make this into a contest?

Soooo, I put the names of each person who submitted a pie crust recipe into a pie plate and did a random drawing…and the names of each person who submitted a pie recipe into a pie plate and did another random drawing. Each winner will be able to go to my shop and pick out THREE sets of downloadable recipe card packs (Which incidentally happen to be on sale right now and are WONDERFUL gifts. Download and print off as many as you want at a photo shop and package them up for stocking stuffers and bridal gifts and oh so many gifts!)

Congratulations to these winners:

My Randomness Returns

September 25, 2008 by Laura 14 Comments

First, I finally put a search box on my site for you so that if you’re looking for say, my whole wheat pretzel recipe…you just type the word “whole wheat pretzels” into the box and it’ll find the recipe link for you! You’ll find it on the left hand side of my blog, right under all the categories. No, your other left. Yep, you got it. Now you can search to your heart’s content. It’s about TIME I did that, huh?

Second, after peeling 300,000 peaches (give or take) to freeze for smoothies, I finally took Lindsay’s advice and just left the peelings on. And guess what? The peelings just blend right up into the smoothie and you can’t even tell they’re there. They’re more nutritious that way of course. And, oh my word, does the freezing process ever go faster! Now if you’re canning them, you’ll need to peel them, but if you’re freezing them, for the love of all things sane, just slice ’em and flash freeze them.

Third, I have no idea what I used to do with my time before I began canning and freezing and fruit leathering. I don’t remember my life before this fall harvest. I think I remember something about cooking a meal without having to step over boxes of apples or scooting jars out of my way so I could mash some potatoes. And  I wish I had a dollar for every phone call I’ve gotten asking if I need any more apples. Ooh, better yet, I wish I had a dollar for every APPLE I’ve had in my kitchen during the last few weeks. It has been some year for apples around here. Wow.

Fourth, the past few weeks, I’ve been reading Little Britches to the boys. Have you READ that book? It is SO good. I fell in love with the family and how the daddy and the son worked so hard together…and it made me want to buy a ranch and some horses and go back in time 100 years (but I would, of course, take my computer and electricity with me). Anyway…when we got to the last two chapters…it got so sad and I could not read it anymore because tears were streaming down my face and my voice was all messy. I handed the book to Matt and he finished reading it to us. It was all I could do not to sob loudly as we sat around the table and listened. I’m still not over it. Oh, but it was a good book.

Fifth, there is a big chorus of crickets blessing my home. (Do you all have tons of crickets too, or did they all decide to move into my house?)  They are singing so loudly right now I can hardly concentrate to write. I don’t mind them too much (because I’d rather have crickets than say, termites) but I do wish I could turn their volume down.

Sixth, I’m going to start doing product reviews on my blog. Because I have a bunch of stuff that I’ve been thinking about that I want to tell you about and brag about to you and encourage you to have. (Like a blender. You should all really have a blender. Between making applesauce, fruit leather and lots of smoothies and milkshakes…I been using my blender three times a day. I highly recommend blenders.)  But seriously, I’m excited to start recommending other useful kitchen tools and homemaking helps. If you have a product from your home business or etsy shop or whatever that you’d like me to review…email me!

Seventh, I could continue to be random and write about the little lego people on my steps just asking to be stepped on or something like that, but the crickets are distracting me. And really…I should go start getting busy with those apples again. Anyone have anything random to share? Hopefully I’ll be able to hear your comment above the Cricket Sing Along…

Guess what I’ve been doing the last several days…and what’s been taking up many of my hours…and what has been exciting and frustrating and fun and crazy all at the same time?!?!

I’m re-doing my whole HeavenlyHomemakers website!!

It’s going to have a whole new look…and a whole new format!

I’m doing this so that it will be more user friendly for you…and so that it will be easier to maintain for me!

So, now you can get excited with me! It’s going to be great! I’m lovin’ the new look and I can’t wait to reveal it to you!

But…it’s not done yet…so you still have to wait….

Just a few more days…

March 1st is the big day!!!

In the meantime, just know that I’m furiously working on the website to get it ready by Saturday.

So, if my blogs are knot worded well, and if I don’t mak much cents win I’m righting,  it’s because my brain is a little fried from all the new things I’m learning and all the things I’m trying to do on the site.

But, thanks to Char…my friend and amazing website designer…it’s coming together! (I keep asking her, “What do people do who have websites, but don’t have a Char? Who do they ask all their questions to?”)

Okay…get excited with me…the countdown begins!

And, just remember what I’m doing so that you’ll forgive me if I’m blogging in the next few days and fail to complete a senten

:)

Have You Heard About Pay Per Post?

February 10, 2008 by Laura 1 Comment

Hey…everyone out there with a blog! Here’s your chance to make millions of dollars!

Okay, maybe not millions, but how ’bout a little extra money for really cool things like socks and toilet paper? Okay…Chocolate?!

I’ve heard about Pay Per Post from several other bloggers out there…you really should check it out.

They pay you to blog…kinda like paying someone to talk…which would be so cool because we all like to talk to our friends…we just don’t get a check for it.

(“Hey, Jayme…blah, blah, blah…potty training…blah, blah..mess on the floor, blah, blah…couldn’t get the smell out for days..blah, blah…back to diapers…”)

And then for that, I get a check for ten bucks!

Oh, if only.

But with Pay Per Post, you can actually get a check for blogging to your friends. (And maybe it could even be about potty training!)

It’s not too hard to figure out, although it does take a little time. But, it’s sure to be worth it.

Just go to Pay Per Post and register yourself. Then, wait for them to approve you (this might take a couple of weeks). Once you’re approved, you get to go check out all the opportunities to be paid for blogging. And you can pick the ones you want.

Okay, having said all of that, I will now go accept my check, then head to the store for those long awaited socks, toilet paper…and ah yes, the chocolate!

Hey, just wanted to remind you or tell you, whichever category you fall under, of HeavenlyHomeMaker’s fun “Finish the Phrase” game found here. You have to go check it out! Each  month, I post a  new puzzle for you to figure out. And each day, I add new letters to help you figure out the phrase.

It’s great fun for you, your spouse, your friends , your in-laws, your second cousin twice removed…

And bring the kids too! It’s fun and educational (but you don’t have to tell them about the educational part)!

I’d love to add your name to the list of those who “Finished the Phrase”!

Here’s the first line of this month’s puzzle.

_ u t   _ f   _ _ r _ _ n g   _ h _   _ _ r _   _ e _ _ s   u _ _ e _ _ _ _ b _ _   t _  ……

Come see the rest of the phrase and see if you (or your kids) can figure it out!

Feel free to comment about how much FUN you are having figuring out the phrase, but please don’t post the actual finished phrase! If you figure out the phrase, you can email it to me! [email protected]
