Pretzel Challenge Winner

April 30, 2011 by Laura 3 Comments

You all made this week super fun, with all of your creative pretzel making and picture taking. My inbox filled up quickly as you sent in your pictures and told of your experiences. I LOVED seeing whole families involved in the pretzel making process – kids, dads, pets…

Okay, not pets. Although they might have had fun too.

Here are a few pictures I grabbed to share  – wish I had room to show them all! Way to go everyone!

The winner of our Pretzel Challenge winner is:

Laura:  (laura.hojnacke@)

Laura, email me and I’ll send you your Heavenly Homemakers Gift certificate code worth $20 off anything downloadable in the Heavenly Homemakers Shop!

If you haven’t had a chance to make these whole wheat soft pretzels yet, might I encourage you go do that? Make it a family event. Get the kids involved. Call in the neighbors. You can come up with different shapes and letters and twist up pretzels all fancy like if you want. Hey, it’s better than a game of Twister. Unless you like embarassing yourself in front of your neighbors. And then you get to eat the pretzels, which is obviously the point, and the best part of all.

Hey, maybe next I should extend a Twister Challenge. Now those would be some fun pictures to see. Not that you’d be able to actually take a picture with your right hand “on red” and your left knee “on blue”.

I’ve gotta say, that game ranks up there with some of my least favorite. Makes you wonder why I keep talking about it, huh?

Happy National Pretzel Day (Week) everyone! :)

A Smoothie Lunch and a Hot Pepper Eye Update

September 23, 2010 by Laura 11 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

Just in case you’re interested, I thought I’d let you know that my hot pepper hands finally stopped burning Tuesday and I can now put contacts in my eyes without pain. My eye (for those of you who were worried) really was completely fine as soon as it got the milk swish. It was my hands that continued to burn and for THAT reason there was no way, no how I was going to put a fiery finger in my eye to insert said contacts. All appears to be back to normal with the eyes and hands and I have vowed never to touch another pepper again for the rest of my life (or until I need to cut up another pepper which could really mean…tomorrow). I will however always and forever wear gloves when cutting peppers.

I say all of that to let you know that I have not suffered any permanent damage…and also to let you know that the folks over at Blogher enjoyed my Hot Pepper in the Eye Remedy post enough to re-post it over on their site. This is a great honor and I’d love for you to head over there and check it out!

In other news (in which I continue to send you away from my blog to read my writing elsewhere)…I have posted again over at Deal Moon, sharing yet another quick, healthy and easy lunch idea.

CURRICULUM SWAP CLOSED. PLEASE COME TO HEAVENLYHOMEMAKERS.COM MAIN PAGE!

Today’s the day!! This is SO exciting!

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of so many of you, there are loads of  books to look through! Here are the rules for our “swap”, which is really  more like a huge giveaway:

  • You do not have to give a book to receive a book. This is open to anyone and everyone who needs books, even if you don’t have books to give.
  • These books are FREE! The only cost involved is shipping, which is the responsibility of the person who receives the free books.
  • If you are interested in receiving one of the books on the list, email the “giver” using the green email address within that list section to let the person know that you are interested in the book(s). Please do not email me requesting the books – they aren’t mine to give!
  • Those giving books away will wait until sometime on Tuesday (the 14th), then they will draw a random “winner”  for each book from the emails they have received.
  • If you are the one chosen to receive a book, please follow through with reimbursing the giver for shipping costs!!!! The fact that you only have to pay for shipping on high dollar curriculum is a huge blessing!
  • There is no limit to how many books you can request before Tuesday, but please only request the books you need and will use!
  • If you’re just now hearing about this swap and you want to give books away, it’s too late for this swap. BUT, stay tuned for an exciting announcement about an ongoing curriculum share project!
  • If you still have questions, read more details here…then start “shopping”!!

Okay…here we go!!!

Announcing Heavenly Homemakers Affiliate Program!

July 20, 2010 by Laura 8 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

There’s been more hard work going on around here (is this really called summer break?!) and we’re so excited to tell you about the new Heavenly Homemakers Affiliate Program!!

So, are ya interested in earning a little extra money? We thought maybe you wouldn’t mind. :)  A little extra money never hurt anybody’s feelings and we are hoping that the new Heavenly Homemakers Affiliate Program will be a blessing to many of you! We’ve worked hard to make this program simple to use and open to everyone, whether you have a blog or not!

Here’s the short story of how it works:

You tell your friends, family, blog readers, facebook friends, etc. about all (or some) of the products in the Heavenly Homemaker’s Shop and when they purchase something using your unique link…you earn 33% of the sale!! For instance, if you promote our new Learn Your Letters, Learn to Serve Preschool Curriculum Kit and someone buys it because of you…you make a quick $15! Not bad at all…and every little bit adds up, right?! Yes, I can think of several things I could do with $15 extra dollars. And if you sell more than one of the kits, plus a few ebooks…well, it all adds up to a nice little monthly bonus!

become_a_heavenlyhomemakers_affiliate

If you have a blog or website, it may be easier for you to promote our products and earn…BUT even if you don’t…you can still be a part of this program. You can tell your friends on facebook and encourage them to check out our products. You can tell people about the products, then email them your link for them to purchase through. Don’t spam anybody, but do feel free to use your online resources to promote our products and earn a little extra cash!

If you’re interested in learning more about the Heavenly Homemaker’s Affiliate Program and signing up to partner up with us, you’ll need to kindly agree to this agreement, then follow the links to sign up! To learn more about the program, you can read through the Heavenly Homemaker’s Affiliate FAQs. This page explains the entire process with simple, step-by-step instructions. There is even a lovely page full of banners and buttons for you to use as you promote the products in our shop! Beyond that, if you have any more questions, please email Charlene, my incredible, lovely and oh so helpful HHM Affiliate Manager at  hhmaffiliates at gmail.com.

We can’t wait to have you join us in this program!!! Sign up…be blessed!

And can I just say thanks? It’s because all of you are so wonderful that makes beginning this affiliate program so exciting for us. Hugs all around.

God is good! Let’s celebrate together!

Psst…if you leave a comment on THIS post…I’ll be so grateful…I just may enter these comments in the drawing as well!

One Last Day…

October 16, 2009 by Laura Leave a Comment

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

Saturday, October 17  is the final day for the Holiday Hospitality E-book special sale in the Shop!

Here’s an email I received from Janna after she purchased these e-books earlier this week:

Laura –

I have spent many years trying to follow various holiday organizational plans ( I am sorely lacking in organization skills and motivation) only to fail badly in my attempts. I just purchased your package, and I have to tell you that I have discovered what was missing in trying to follow the other plans. It was JESUS! I know it seems too obvious, but I was not motivated because all of the plans focused on presents and decorating. The way you have included scriptures, prayer ideas, and general suggestions (along with manageable tasks) has made the difference for me.

Thank you,
Janna

That’s the kind of email that makes my day! Thank’s Janna for letting me share what you had to say!

If you haven’t purchased Heavenly Homemaker’s Guide to Holiday Hospitality and/or Heavenly Homemaker’s Guide to Holiday Hospitality for Kids and you want to grab them at a great sale price, you have until 11:59 Saturday night!

Heavenly Homemaker’s Guide to Holiday Hospitality…$5.00
~
Heavenly Homemaker’s Guide to Holiday Hospitality for Kids…$5.00
~
Holiday Hospitality E-book Package (includes BOTH e-books!)…$8.00

Just as Soon as I Get a Round Tuit

September 15, 2009 by Laura 52 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

My grandma always had a “round tuit” on her fridge. I remember looking at the little round wooden circle with the word “tuit” on it and thinking it was the silliest magnet there ever was. What in the world was a tuit???

roudtuitsm

Finally one day I asked Grandma what a tuit was. She chuckled at me and asked me what shape the magnet was. Um…a circle. Circle Tuit? That doesn’t make any sense. Silly little magnet.

Then Grandma said that yes it’s a circle and if circles are round…what does that make the magnet?

Hmm…a round tuit. OH!!! A round tuit!!! I got it!!! AROUND TO IT!! Suddenly that little magnet went from being ridiculous to the funniest thing my grandma owned. I can still hear Grandma chuckle at me when my “light bulb” went on.

I always wondered what happened to Grandma’s tuit after she died. Of all things to wonder about. Apparently I had told my friend Anne about Grandma’s round tuit. Sometime last year, Anne found a wooden  round tuit and gave it to me so that I could have one like my grandma had. Truly it was one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given.

But here is my question:  Why…now that I have a round tuit can I still not ever get around to it?

I have so many things to do and posts to post…but I seem to never get around to it. I have an email inbox full of questions you’d like me to answer on my blog. Plus all kinds of recipes and links and fun ideas I want to share with you.

If only I could get around to it.

Here are some of the most popular questions I’ve received from you that I’m going to write about just as soon as I get around to it:

  • Soaps and sundries…what kind of detergents, soaps, cleaners do I use?
  • Homeschool schedule…how do I structure our day, teach all the boys and keep the little one occupied during it all?
  • Grain Mills…which one do I have…which one do I recommend?
  • Grinding Flour…does it save money to grind your own? What kind of grain do I like?
  • Making bread…for those who are new at making bread…would I please share a tutorial on the whole process, especially how to knead the bread?
  • Giving little boys hair cuts

There are others waiting in my inbox…but I think I can safely say that those are the most frequently asked questions.

I’m going to make a big effort to answer these questions within the next few weeks.

What I need to know is:  WHICH of these questions are you interested in me answering first? Which one is more important for you to know about? I’ll be answering all of them as I get a round tuit…but help me out by sharing what you want me to work on first?!

Why Do I Do This To Myself?

May 10, 2009 by Laura Leave a Comment

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

When I said that I would read your acrostic Mother’s Day poems and then pick my favorite…WHAT was I thinking?

Like I can actually pick a favorite?  I don’t think so.

I’d read one and say, “Yep, that’s my favorite.”

And then I’d read the next one and say, “Well, maybe that one is my favorite.”

Yeah…I did that with all of them.

Perhaps I am a poor decision maker…or maybe you are all just good acrostic poetry writers. I love your creativity! Your poems brought tears to my eyes…and a smile to my face…. (wow, sounds like another poem in the making…)

Anyway, I copped out and drew two random winners instead. The winners of the downloadable recipe card packs are:

Megan M.
and
Jill R.

Thanks to everyone who played along. I’d make up an acrostic poem for the word T.H.A.N.K.S. but I’m too full of Mother’s Day cheesecake.

:)

After I posted the story of how Matt and I met and started dating…Patti suggested that maybe we could all share the story of how we met and began dating our mate. Great idea!

I would love to hear your stories! And well…with Valentine’s Day coming up…what better time than this to remind ourselves of WHY we chose to spend our lives with the ones we love.

Start writing down your Love Story…and on Saturday, Feb. 7…we can all meet up here with Mr. Linky. (Wonder if he has a love story? I mean…is there a Mrs. Linky? A bunch of Little Linkys running around? Hmm…)

Spread the news. Grab the Share Your Love Story banner for your site. Make plans to join us here on Saturday, Feb. 7 to share your love story!

lovestorybannertiny.JPG

P.S. If you don’t have a blog, but would like to share your story, write it and send it to me via email ([email protected]) . I’ll put your story on a page here at Heavenly Homemakers and link it up too so that everyone can read your story!
