I am just now diving in to the world of Essential Oils. Why has it taken me so long? Good question. I probably just needed someone to break it down and make it simple while I learned about these healing oils.
That’s exactly what Janine, a doTerra consultant, has been doing for me. She sent me several oils to try, along with a simple but detailed explanation of how to use each of them. Just what I needed! Break it down, tell me how to use them – aha! It is all beginning to make sense. :)
The Lemon Essential Oil seems to be a favorite, and I can see why. Talk about being multi-purpose!! You can clean with it, wash fruit with it, and use it as an antioxidant. Janine even uses it to make these delicious looking Lemon Bars!
Peppermint oil can be used for an energy boost, for sinus and headache problems, and to lower fever. Lavender oil is great for burns and cuts, and to help you get a good night’s sleep. Janine sprays lavender oil on her three year old’s pillow at night to help him settle down and sleep. Smart thinking!! :)
And on and on the list goes of oils that help with concentration (great for kids who have trouble focusing – or mom’s who have trouble thinking straight!). Oils that soothe aches and pains. Oils that calm nausea or heartburn. All of the oils have so many uses!
What a wonderful way to naturally give our bodies the boost they need! Essential oils can be pricey, but a little goes a long way, which stretches your dollar. I am very impressed with the quality of these oils. doTerra is a brand you can trust! We love our essential oils here – but I do want to caution you (and your friend) about using a lot of lavendar oil around your boys. It can have an effect on the body a lot like estrogen, with not-so-great results.
US Dept of Health & Human Services did an article on it back in 2007 – and I’ve heard the same caution from my naturopath.

I was just introduced to doterra oils a few months ago. Just have to say WOW! The digestzen got rid of a sinus infection and yeast overgrowth problem. And I have the orange that has been great to flavor things, boost immune system, put into humidifier, etc. That is all I have so far, really needing the lemon next, so it would be perfect!

I’ve been using doTerra oils for about 3 months now and love them. Anytime I get a sore throat or cough I layer peppermint, lavender, and lemon on my neck. I use lemon and orange in my fabric softener cup with vinegar as a fabric softener, my daughter has a cough tonight so I used doTerra’s ‘Breathe’ on her chest and put it in her humidifier. I even use them on my Norwex cloths when I clean. I love my doTerra oils and am so glad you are starting to use them. I use your blog WEEKLY for recipes for my kiddos. Thank you for this blog. It is a ministry to my family ;)

When I use lemon oil, I put a drop (or two) into a *glass* glass of water in the morning. Supposed to act as a gentle cleanse :) Tasty, too!

Would love to win the lemon essential oil. We do use several essential oils. One of our favorites for any itchy issues is Texas Cedarwood. We use it on our pets as well as ourselves. Just mix about 10 drops in a spray bottle with pure water and use on any itchy spot.

This would be great. I use essential oils in our handsoap (which is a gentle soap and plant based) at all our sinks to give them a wonderful smell. I put lemon oil in the soap at my kitchen sink, because it helps rid hands of onion and garlic smells.

I am also just starting on my journey with essential oils. I was just researching who to buy essential oils from. This would be a great way to try them out.
Ive gotten into using essential oils and am trying to use them first before reach for pills and medicines for minor ailments. I also use them in my homemade bath salts and sugar scrubs-its MUCH less expensive to make your own, and all natural.

Lemon essential oil is good in tea as well. I once used it in olive oil to make furniture polish. My antique wood furniture gleamed!

I just got into essential oils myself and they are doTerra. There are soooooooooo many things that they can be used for. I bet you are excited about them being in glass bottles for you to collect too! LOL Lemon is one that I haven’t tried yet, but I have tried the Lavender on the bottoms of my feet before going to sleep and it helps with more restful sleep. I even did the Peppermint on my temples when I had a headache and that helped too. The Slim and Sassy is great for those who are looking to kick their soda habit like I am and it helps curb the sweet tooth a bit as well. Sorry…didn’t mean to start an advertisement for the stuff here! It is just awesome what essential oils can do.
