I mentioned in this post that I don’t usually do much with facebook. But…when it comes to reuniting friendships…I think facebook is so awesome!
God had just put my friend Melody on my heart…and I thought, “Hmm, I should look her up on facebook to see if she has a page.” The VERY next day, I received a friend request from Melody!! Don’t you love how God works!?
We started chatting and the long and the short of it was: I needed to see her! I needed to hug her neck! I wanted to catch up face to face!
Melody found some amazingly priced plane tickets and just a few short weeks after we “found each other” again, she and her two sweet babies are here for a visit!
We’ve had a wonderful time. Ooh, but did I mention that I have laryngitis and Melody has plugged ears? It’s made for some interesting conversation times, that’s for sure. :)
I’ve loved meeting her kids (ages 2 and 3). I’ve loved being able to catch up on what all has been going on with her since we last saw each other several years ago. (She happened to be hanging out at my house the night my water broke when I was pregnant with Justus. Yeah, we go way back!)
Today was Melody’s birthday, so of course there was lots of celebration food!
She requested biscuits and gravy for breakfast. My family cheered.
My boys were being awfully quiet after breakfast (always reason for concern). Turns out, they were upstairs with the door closed working on a special birthday song for Melody. It was oh so goofy…and oh so sweet. (Yes, mostly it was goofy.)
We “picnicked” inside during lunchtime since the weather turned out nasty, and of course we had pretzels.
We served up some yummy cake and homemade ice cream after lunch. Don’t you love all the pictures of a sweet little girl in pink ruffles and pig tails? You don’t see many of those kind of pictures around here, do you?
I’ve loved our visit…and I’m so thankful for how God orchestrated all the details to make it possible. God is so good.

What a great treat for both of you to get together again =)
I was surprised to learn today via FB that my DH’s niece’s hubby has returned from Iraq – woot, woot! I thought he had a longer deployment. Can you imagine single-parenting 3 youngsters for 8 months?! So happy and thankful for them to be reunited!
Awww! That is so sweet of your boys! I’m glad you had a good time with your friend, Laura.
God truly is good, all the time! I’m so grateful for Him. I really can’t name one single thing; He is so amazing!

All that food looks and sounds so yummy — making me hungry for sure!
I have reconnected with many friends through facebook, and it’s a nice way to stay connected with family since none of mine lives close.
We love indoor picnics when the wather doesn;t cooperate. Glad yours was such a blessing!
how awesome! What a lovely day and friend :)
Sounds like a wonderful visit! And those biscuits look heavenly! Are there plans to share your biscuit recipe?
Actually, I already posted my biscuit recipe to my site: https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/whole-wheat-sourdough-biscuits Now I need to go edit this post to add the link! Thanks for asking!
Facebook is great.
Old friends are even better.
I hope you enjoyed your visit.

I had that Facebook experience a few weeks ago. I thought about somebody and wondered if they were on FB, and within a few hours she’d sent me a friend request. I haven’t seen her since I was nine, making her the longest gap that FB has ever filled in.

Today, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness!! My family and I are winding down our whirlwind of packing, getting ready for our cross country move that begins the end of this week. I went to my Ladies’ Bible study this morning for the last time here, and was overwhelmed not just by God’s goodness, but His SWEETNESS!!! In the two years we were stationed here, He has shown Himself to me in more ways than one!! He has brought me out of the darkness, and into the SONSHINE!!! Literally!! I will miss my california sunshine, but I have found eternal Sonshine!! So, going back to what I am grateful for: I am grateful that God loves me so much He wants to He wants to overwhelm with His sweetness, with dear friends I have met since being here, and a sense that a very special part of my heart will always look back on this post, and remember the desert is not always dry and barren.. there is sweet Water that flows there. Thank you for this opportunity to share what I am thankful for!! ( and not to mention the most important people in my life are the ones I am moving cross country with… my sweet beloved husband, and my three wonderful, full of life boys!!!
P.S. And Yes, Facebook is a good thing to use to connect with friends and family far far away!! :) God bless!!
I am very thankful that Facebook allows me to keep up with friends I havent seen in years. It allows me to see pictures of my “grandbabies” now and then, too. I am most thankful that God takes care of us always. We’ve hit a financial rough spot this week, and our congregation was there to help us.
Nine years ago tonight, DH and I were eating pizza, watching Emeril, and wondering what it would be like to welcome our first-born son into our lives. We were anxious and excited for his arrival. Fast forward to 2010 and it’s an evening of a different sort: rowdy, chaotic, messy… but I wouldn’t change either evening! Well… I might opt not to have the can of clear coat explode all over my front hallway… BUT…
Might I ask how you made the gravy? I didn’t see any meat to use the grease from cooking it.
I used my turkey sausage recipe with lots of BUTTER!! https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/make-homemade-turkey-sausage
