I am blessed beyond words. Not only did I marry a great man – part of my marriage package includes a great set of in-laws.
As a part of this prize package that I acquired upon becoming a Coppinger, I received two sisters-in-law: Matt’s sister, and Matt’s brother’s wife. Blessing upon blessing – all three of us get along.
Actually, to simply say that we “get along” may be an understatement. Our relationships are so much deeper than that. We laugh, we cry, we pray, we share…and oh my…we shop.
Which is what the three of us did for several days together last week. Don’t worry, we did much more than shop. We laughed, we cried, we prayed…and we ate cheesecake. It was awesome. Our get-away time together is something we started probably around eight years ago (none of us can remember exactly). Since the two of them live in California, and I live in Nebraska, we rarely see each other. Therefore, we’ve been intentional about meeting up for a long weekend every two or three years.
We now lovingly call our get-away time the “Coppinger Sister Symposium”. Sounds so much more fun and official than just a simple “sister weekend”, don’t you think? ;)
I flew to L.A. on Wednesday, and the fun began. (As did the lack of sleep. There was too much fun to be had!)
Here we are at Malibu beach one evening. Oh my word – I couldn’t get over the beauty. And joy upon joy, with bare feet in the glorious sand – I took off for a short run. Walking and jogging on the concrete of Nebraska may never be the same again after the exhilaration I felt during and after that run. Wowza.
Oh, and we saw dolphins! And as we watched the tide roll in, we sat on a blanket and shared – praising God for our marriages and children. The shopping, the partaking of awesome California food (can you say fresh strawberries?!) was all wonderful. But that time together on the beach, I will be gushing about forever.
I came home tired, yet incredibly refreshed and encouraged. I thank God for putting these wonderful gals in my life. (And a big shout-out goes to our three husbands who willingly and sweetly took over in our homes while we enjoyed our “CSS”.)

That is so neat! Kari is my AC for Hello Mornings and I wrote one day about how much I love Heavenly Homemakers and she wrote that you were her sister in law! I should have connected by the last names. SO fun! Glad that God blessed you in this way!

How fun! I was at the beach this past weekend too… just a couple hours south of you. Glad you had a great time!
Well, two things I’m grateful for…
Today was my big girl’s 6th birthday! Yep, I became a mom 6 years ago. I am so blessed to have my Bekah-Boo in my life. She is so wonderful :)
I’m also thankful for “friends/sisters” who I meet through blogging, like YOU Laura! Seriously. I am able to learn more about becoming a better homemaker. I just finished bottling and labeling my first batch of homemade vanilla extract!!! So fun!! Now I hope some friends will buy it so I’m not stuck with over a hunder ounces of vanilla extract!!!
Thank you :)

I long for the day when my children are old enough for me to leave them for more than a few hours. Someday, I will get to do this, too! Thank you for sharing!

My sister(Linda) and I, my daughter(Laurie) and sister’s best friend(Jan) all celebrate together on a day in September for our birthdays. We alternate early and late since we spread from Sept 3 to 20.
We prayed Jan through she and her (fairly new) hubby’s sail for FOUR years (we really missed her those years) through the Caribbean and parts of South America. this is their second such trip and we are so thankful they have once again come back safe.
Since I know she’s not on this blog (we prayed for her salvation too). I thank God she has come back safe through several cancer therapies and some awful storms.
We have been doing this for about 10 years now (we only get one day tho to celebrate) and we always have the best time and I praise God and thank him for the opportunity for ‘sister’/’daughter’/’like a sister’ time. My gratituesday thanks.

Yay for time with sisters! I told one of my girlfriends that when our kids get a little older (most of us have babies still) we need to plan a girl weekend!
You are one blessed woman to have women like that in your life.

What a blessing, Laura. I, too, just experienced a similar weekend with my 6 sisters and parents. We all met in the Kansas City area…3 sisters live there, 3 more in Kansas and one in Arizona. My mom turned 81, so we had fun taking her shopping for some new clothes. At one store there were 5 of us sisters bringing mom outfit after outfit. The salesperson said she got goosebumps when she found out we were all sisters helping our mom. I am the youngest of all those ladies and absolutely love it! Here is to family and especially sisters! Btw I also have 6 brothers. Yes, can you say “large family!” Love your blog and recipes.:)

We’re from Missouri but we lived in SoCal for about 18 months for my husband’s job. We LOVED all the fresh fruit out there. That was one of the few things that was a lot cheaper out there! :) We couldn’t get enough of the stuff.
