I love music.
I think it is wonderful that God gives us music and song to express ourselves. We have our kitchen radio tuned to our local Christian radio station and it’s on almost all day long. I LOVE it.
I love praising God while I’m cooking. I love singing with the boys when they’re in the kitchen with me. I love listening to the words and letting the music minister to my soul at all times during the day. I love beautiful melodies. I love hearing God given talent. I love music!
My current favorite song is All of Creation, by Mercy Me. Every time this song comes on, I feel like dancing for Jesus in a field of lavender wild flowers. Shucks, I’d settle for a field of prairie grass. And I’d just let the tears stream down my face while I spend time with my Father in the middle of his creation. Doesn’t it just sound lovely?
I’m so thankful God gave us the gift of music. Through song, we can experience God in a beautiful way. I just love it.

Are you kidding me? We apparently have a very similar heart. I JUST wrote a post last week about this song entitled, “Separated Until the Veil was Torn.” (http://www.heart-toward-home.com/2010/05/separated-until-veil-was-torn.html) I clicked on your post from my dashboard not intending to comment at all until I read it. One time the Lord moved in my spirit during prayer so much so that I spent the entire time praising Him for the gift of music. On Facebook yesterday I commented how sad it it is that because Television has robbed us of meditation and thoughtful worship, we have probably lost countless talented additions to the art and music world that would worship God. I mean, can you imagine what life would be like without the gift of music? It is such an amazing gift to us! Anyway, thought I would just say girl…we are definitely kidred spirits!
I love God and I love Christian music. I listen to our local station (The Fish) all the time. My kids love it, too. I can totally relate to all that you said about music. I really connect to God through songs of worship. Sometimes I just dance around my living room with my eyes closed and hands held high singing and worshiping along with the songs. I imagine me singing with the angels before the Throne of Grace completely rapt. Many times the tears are free flowing, especially in church. Thanks for the post. I am so grateful for all the artistic talent out there who put (my) thoughts into beautiful songs.
I am loving that song so much too. Thanks for the link.
Funny, my post last week was about music as well:

This week, I scrapped my intended post (a partly tongue and cheek post about being thankful for the approaching end of the school-year activities) after I read Amy’s Gratituesday post (#1). Touched by her heart-filled post, I decided to follow in her footsteps and sponsor a child in honor of MY brother who passed away a year ago. What a lovely tribute to a loved one who has gone Home before us!
When I mentioned the idea to my Mom, she logged on and sponsored two children in honor of my brother as well. So, from Amy’s one post, including her Imon, four children have been sponsored! Now tell me that isn’t the work of the Lord’s hand!
Whether you go through Compassion (Amy) or World Vision (me & Mom) or another organization, please consider sponsoring a child today. The need is so great, and even in times of financial trouble here at home, we have so much more than these children ever will. Sponsoring this child (our fourth sponsored child) is quite a stretch for us financially, but I truly believe the Lord will provide for us as we work to provide for His lambs in need.
God bless,
Jennifer
Indeed, music is such a gift. It moves me in so many ways and I so enjoy sharing it with my kids even if I am not very musically inclined… I will have to look up the song you mentioned!
Thankful for a lot today! Linked up! Have a wonderful day.
My post today also included singing!!! Karelle said that in order to mentally and emotionally survive what was happening in her homeland of Haiti, she had to choose to have a gratitude list and a christian song on her heart.
I love that song, too! I just about cry (good tears, of course) every time I hear it. It’s just one of those I can see us all singing in Heaven one day! :)
We have a ‘kitchen radio’ too and it plays our local Christian radio station. Listening to this uplifting music keeps my mind from wandering to places and thoughts it probably shouldn’t. It keeps a new song in my heart. It helps me to focus on whatever is lovely, pure, true, honest, of good report (loose translation of Philippians 4:8). We also have a selection of CDs that we listen to. My children are ALWAYS singing and it is such a blessing – especially to hear them singing hymns and praises throughout the grocery store or wherever we may be! They are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.
I love this song, it is such a beauiful worship song.
I have been blessed by having a free trial subscription to Sirius (love The Message station). Lately, my favorite song is ”Free to be Me” by Francesca Battistelli.
Apparently, I really need to hear this song! I’ve been introduced to it twice in 20 minutes! God is a good and loving God…I hope you’re able to rest in him today :) Thanks for all your encouraging posts!
Sarah
Hi,
My friend Ded just introduced me to you yesterday. Now I want to make vanilla. My hubby was so sweet to call the liquor stores for me!
3/4 lb of vanilla beans is out of my budget right now. I may just have to make a little bottle for me instead.
Blessings to you!
Laura
Thanks for the link! I love your site. Have a blessed day from a fellow “joy junkie”
Oh my goodness, that is exactly what is on my CD player as I read this post! WOW! I too love to sing and praise God as I go about my daily tasks…As unto the Lord :) and I love it that my kids see praise and worship lived out in real life. thanks for all your inspiration as well.
Woohoo! I’ve SO grateful that as of July or August I will be able to work from home!! FAVOR w/my employer!! Woohoo!!!
I’m not so happy that I can no longer access this site at work. :-(
Always thankful for music! My current favorites are Sara Groves (actually she’s been a favorite since like 2000 or so) and Jon Troast. You can find him at http://www.jontroast.com. Love his style and lyrics!
Agreed! My radio is also set to our local Christian station. Love it. Right now my favorite is “What a Savior” by Laura Story. I always turn it up and sing my heart out!!! Thanks for your wonderful blogs :)
I read the beginning of your post then had to get up and go say goodbye to my husband as he left for work. While coming back to finish, I found myself singing “All of Creation”. That is such a good song, and I have found that listening to Christion/Inspirational music is so much more calming and relaxing than any other music out there. I too am thankful for the freedom in this country to have Christian radio stations and the freedom to listen to them!
I absolutely LOVE that song!
love this song. we saw them in concert in feb. this song was hubs & my favorite.
I don’t remember ever hearing this song before, which is very surprising as we listen to K-LOVE Christian Radio almost exclusively in our car. Since we are a homeschooling family…we are never in there(ha,ha). We are scheduled to sing the special music Father’s Day at our church. I am thinking this is a big possibility!
