Apparently it doesn’t take much to make me giddy and excited. Take me to a strawberry patch…and I’m like a kid in a candy store. A STRAWBERRY candy store!
Last week, we had the opportunity to go to a farm and pick strawberries (in trade for some homemade bread and other goodies)!! I had been out there one time last year, but I had forgotten how BIG this patch was and how BEAUTIFUL the strawberries are!!
I could not stop saying, “Thank you God!!!” and “Oh this is SO cool!” for about ten minutes after we arrived. It is the greatest strawberry patch. I had a couple boys who didn’t feel well that morning, so Asa stayed home with them. This meant that Justus and I were on a strawberry picking date. He was just as excited as I was and a super trooper. He worked so hard with me! We chattered the whole time together and talked about bugs and berries and God’s goodness. It will be a date with my boy that I will remember forever.
Somehow, Justus got a picture of me picking strawberries in quite an interesting way. It was like this: my feet were in a good spot and there were strawberries ALL over the place..and I didn’t want to trample any berries or plants…so I just left my feet there and saw how far I could reach and how many strawberries I could pick without changing foot positions. No WONDER I was sore afterward!!
Look at these beauties!!
I’m so thankful for the generosity of my friend who let me come have a party in her strawberry patch. I’m thankful for all the yummy berries we’ve been eating. I’m thankful for all the berries I’ve been able to put into my freezer for slushies and smoothies.
And…I’m thankful for the sweet memory I made with my handsome date. Now that everyone is feeling better, I think I need to make plans to take several more handsome dates back to the patch!

What a wonderful day Laura. I love the idea of making strawberry picking into a mom-child date. We’re planning our family picking trip now, but I may have to add a second one so that I could go with just one of our kids.
Sounds wonderful, and even better than you could have a ‘date’ with one child, and even better that you could swap for it rather than pay. (The only strawberry farm we ever had a chance to go to wanted $8.00 per person. With a family of 8, they would have been very expensive strawberries!)
You should really be thankful for that. We don’t get strawberries for at least 1 month here & we are having an exceptionally cold spring. We are still covering plants to keep them from the frost.
Hey I get excited over stuff like that too. Those are awesome berries and lovely memory you made. God bless.
My mom’s apples should be ready in about a month and I am going to make my yearly supply of applesauce. I get a kick out of this. Nerdy I am.

Yummy! We are going blueberry picking soon and I can’t wait!!
what a special time!!
Too funny! I also posted about free produce :) Of course, my little guy is too small to help right now, but I look forward to adventures with him in the future.
The pictures are awesome and the berries look so yummy.

Could you please share how you freeze your berries? Whole? Crushed? I know there are few different methods and I am interested in how you go about freezing your berries.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for hosting gratituesday. What a great way to take time out to remember what it is we are thankful for.
fields of strawberries how grand I would be in the next stop before heaven LOL
Gorgeous pictures. I’m so happy I came across your place here. It’s wonderful & I’ll sure be back!
That is amazing! What a huge patch! Yummy!
I really, really want some strawberries now!
I love strawberry season too! We’re still waiting for them to come on strong here, but very, very soon we will be up to our elbows in strawberry goodness.
How nice that you had a wonderful date and got some lovely strawberries out of it! What a good helper you have! He can pick strawberries and take pictures!
I’m sorry I didn’t mean to drool over the strawberries!
It doesn’t get much better than that! Strawberry patches are great!
