Celebrate with us! Matt’s restaurant (aka Southside Grille) is now open!!!
I went in last week and took a few pictures. They (as in Evelyn, the head manager) have it decorated SO nicely!
Isn’t it beautiful!?!
Wow, what a lot of hard work getting it ready to open. And now that it’s open…wow, what a lot of hard work. Both Matt and Evelyn have been working a lot of hours the past few days.
Matt’s been loving every minute of it.
I love that my husband loves his new job. I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am and the joy I feel seeing how happy he is at his work.

I didn’t do an actual Gratituesday post today, but still wanted to comment. How exciting that it’s open! It looks so nice and obviously a lot of planning went into the whole thing. Best wishes on this new venture and Merry Christmas to all of you!
My guess is I’m not near to partake of such a great looking place. I’m glad your husband loves his job. If one loves their work, it isn’t work–it’s a joy.
Congratulations on the new restaurant! It is beautiful!!! This looks like our kind of place…if only it were closer!
Ah! Sure wish we lived closer and could come eat at the diner – it is beautiful.
I have a Gratituesday to share … our 25th wedding anniversary party was this past Saturday. We had tried every way possible to schedule it so our oldest daughter (Katie, 21) could be here but there was just no way. My sister was trying to find a way to Skype her in but that seemed even worse — having to talk to her and not be able to have her at the party. I was scolding myself for not being grateful that my family was throwing this beautiful party for us; that I have a wonderful husband; I have 3 other beautiful/wonderful children at the party, etc., etc., and all I could focus on was that one of my kids couldn’t be there. But, I just couldn’t help it – every time I would think about her not being able to be at the party it made me so sad. The last few days before the party it ramped up to the point that I could hardly talk about it without crying. I had even mentioned to Katie that I didn’t know if I could do the Skype thing without crying and I just wanted to prepare her … she even offered to scrap the whole thing if it would make me feel better. So, the day of the party arrives and I’m seeing friends I haven’t seen in *years* – it was wonderful! As it turns out, my sister and Katie couldn’t get Skype to work so Katie called about half-way through the party to wish us a Happy Anniversary. As we were talking she WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR!!!!! I nearly fell over. I had hoped beyond hope that somehow, someway we could get her home but never imagined she would actually be there. It was one of the most wonderful moments of my life. I have explained to my other children that it wasn’t that them being there wasn’t enough – it’s just that a mama hen likes ALL her chicks to come home to roost :) Later that evening I was thinking about how much my Heavenly Daddy loves me that He worked all of that out – just for me. Now I cry just thinking about that! Thanks for letting me share.
I know this is a really late reply but I loved your story!!

What a great looking restaurant! Now when we drive through NE I know where we will stop to eat!!
WOW! That is so beautiful!! I would love to eat there! If I’m ever in the area-I will look it up! =)
Keep us updated on how it goes-don’t be too humble!!!! =)
Laura, it is beautiful! Lord willing, in the spring we will be visiting NE and seeing friends in Bethany and Lincoln and then visiting my husband’s hometown of Hebron (world’s largest porch swing, ya know. lol). Might as well pop over to your town as well for a bite to eat! :)
The new restaurant looks so nice and I am sure the food is delicious. So glad that Matt is enjoying his new job. Hope you all will be able to get to Kansas for Christmas Day. Merry Christmas.
Laura, my brother told me that some of his co-workers stopped by when they had a construction job in York a few weeks ago and that they had a wonderful lunch!
Alright, I’m a little over a week late – but that goes along with living the “real life,” right. I had my post started, but never got around to finishing and posting – until tonight. And so, in addition to my stated Gratituesday gratefulness, I’m also grateful the post is finally on the blog :) Now to finish yesterday’s post.
Oops, my first attempt at linking up didn’t work – sorry… the second try seemed to correct whatever I did wrong the first time.
