It used to be one of my most dreaded projects. We have several tubs of clothes up in our attic. Every fall and every spring we lug them down, finding what fits which boy each year. While I’ve been ridiculously thankful for the amount of clothes we’ve had for our boys – most of them hand me downs – the chore of switching out clothes for the season was always long and exhausting.
This year though? I am reminded how nice it is to have children old enough to be such a huge help. We had the entire job done – from lugging down containers, to switching out clothes, to lugging them all back up – in one hour. One hour. Hallelujah!
This job used to take me two entire days. That was back when the kids “helped” by resorting my piles thirty times, throwing shirts at each other, trying on clothes that were way too big or too small…you know the drill. I loved that everyone just got right to it, got it done, and moved on with the day.
Best news of all: I did not have to be the one to go into the attic. I’m not a fan of the attic. It has a little something to do with a bird attack I experienced a few years back. I now put on my pitiful face and beg one of my boys to do the dirty work. Love these boys!
This pile of clothes is heading to our bi-annual clothing exchange this weekend.
I’m so thankful God continues to provide plenty of clothing for my family – especially as their legs keep getting LONGER. Wow. I’m thrilled to have this task behind us for the year, and as much as I love summer, I will admit that it’s fun to pull out warm sweaters for this fall season!

Aaah! I’ve yet to change out clothes, BUT we’re in Florida so I can get by for a few more weeks. ;) One of the things I’m most thankful for is that God really does bring good out of the hardest times. http://lisaappelo.com/all-things-work-together-for-good/
I’m impressed that y’all got that done in 1 hour!! One simple thing that I’m thankful for is a husband who will wake up to take care of a huge spider for me!
I am thankful for being safe in Jesus.

I am thankful that I get to go to the woman bible study at church. UsuallyI would be working. I need to be aroundlike minded friends Just need there support and couragement.
I am still putting it off. I DREAD the process of changing the kids clothes over to a new size or season. Really, I should be thankful we have such an abundance of hand-me-downs!
We dined with 18 containers next to the dining room table for 2 weeks! :) We love having all the clothes and it such a blessing to find things that fit the next kiddo down! But even more, I would LOVE to be able to do it in ONE HOUR! You have challenged us. :) Thank you!
Bwahahaa! My morning consisted of my three boys five and under resorting my piles and tubs, trying on too small and too big clothing and shoes and generally “helping” mama. It was a joy, and I am grateful for clothing to put on my boys, and the sun is shining today!
I’m very thankful that while my husband is in Canada for an annual work trip, there has been no snake in my house!! Laura, last year I read your snake story the day before I found one in my house!! And my poor husband was no help while he was out of the country! And The Lord has blessed us with more hand-me-downs than we can keep, for which I am thankful. With 6 going on 7 children we have a lot of clothes. In south Louisiana we never really put short sleeves away so have a full dresser for the entire winter. Sometimes we are in short sleeves at Christmas!
I am thankful for another year of life–today is my birthday! I’m also thankful for God’s patience guidance.

I am so grateful for the motherly compassion that my mother exemplified in my life, and for the opportunity to display it to my daughter…

That is amazing Laura!! Good for you for putting those handsome boys to work. :) I am about to finish the awful task today. I also have 4 boys to go through plus one fashion loving girl. I’m just hoping to be done by the end of the day.
