With the launch of our Oh, For Real book coming in March – we are so excited to share what is falling into place to go along with it! This is something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Somehow, the timing just wasn’t right. Until now.
As our family looks ahead toward the coming months, our calendar shows quite a few out of town trips. A basketball tournament, an extended family vacation, a wedding, a family service trip, a family reunion…
During each of these trips, as we are able, we will be planning a “Meet and Greet” time in various cities. I want to meet you – For Real! (Get it? We can meet “in real life”!) I want to get to know you and learn more about your life. I am so excited about this!
What I’m not excited about? All of the areas we aren’t visiting in the near future. There are so many of you all over the U.S. and beyond that I would love to meet. Unfortunately, we don’t have any family reunions in New York. Or Oregon. Or Japan. ;) Maybe someday I will meet all of you this side of heaven. We’ll do what we can!
So what do we have lined up in the coming months for Oh, For Real ~ Meet and Greet times?

I’m in middle-of-nowhere northwest Kansas, so I won’t be able to participate :-( But, I hope you have an awesome time. You’ve been a great source of information and inspiration to my family!
I’d love to know where you are in middle-of-nowhere, KS!! Email if you don’t feel like sharing it publicly. We might be able to work something out. :)
Michigan, Michigan, Michigan!!!! You skipped Michigan! I learned about your family and blog in a magazine handed out by my church and our household has NEVER been the same!!! We would love to see you here!!
Val
Any plans to come to St. Louis? :)
My husband had a soccer recruiting trip there last year – now I’m wishing we would have set that up at that time! BUT, maybe he’ll have another one there this year?? We’ll ssee what we can do!
Yea!!!!!!! Colorado Springs
So excited that you are coming to Kansas City! Can’t wait to meet you!
Hope you are able to find a place in springfield I am very excited to meet you. Your blog has helped me change how i feed our family some of our favorite foods!
I’m interested in knowing how you will keep up your healthy eating on the road. We do a lot of traveling and struggle with getting whole grains on the road – last summer we went 6 weeks and 8,000 miles, 22 states in car seeing so many wonderful national parks. But, our food was less than wonderful. I just prayed over it and asked the Lord to bless us with it, but would love to know another way. Any ideas for our trip this year? It will be a small one, only 3 weeks and only 5 states (one being Nebraska, though!)
Just today I was working through trying to figure out food for our traveling. We do have to resort to eating out a little while on the road, but try to pack as much as we can for at least a few meals. Fruits and vegetables are the most difficult I’ve found to keep up with. I’m actually thinking about packing some salad fixin’s this time!
Let me know when you come through Nebraska, by the way. Will you be driving through close to York?
We aren’t sure yet where in Nebraska – we are trying to go to all 50 states and this summer plean on going to Kansas and Nebraska and some “old states” that we have already been to. I am in the process of mapping out our trip. We are going through the catologs we got from the tourism department from each state to find fun things to do – I usally let each child pick something of interest to them in each state and try to make it in the same region. I’ll keep you posted on if we come close. Do you have anything on the don’t miss list for NE?
Can’t think of anything spectacular that you wouldn’t want to miss, but if I think of anything, I’ll let you know. Please do let me know if you come this way!
I hope your Meet and Greets take you to Savannah, Ga, Augusta Ga or Aiken, SC sometime in the future. :)
I’d sure love to see you again, Dorthy!
I was JUST thinking this morning about how I feel you have become a sort of mentor to me. I know that may sound really strange, but I admire the way your trust in the Lord permeates what you do and overflows to your writing. I continue to find great encouragement from your blog in my homemaking, motherhood and marriage. I am praying it works for me to meet you when you come to Denver!
Think you will ever make Michigan some day??
Can’t wait to try the twinkies. I am out of sucanut :(
If Japan isn’t one of the stops, I guess neither is Guam. But for sure, we have an eternity in Heaven one day together. I love being in your Heavenly Homemaker family here n now.
Wish Montana was a little closer to Denver! Maybe someday you can make it to Big Sky Country! Would love to connect with you “for real”!!
Can you please, please, please try to plan a meet and great in Nebraska?!? I know it sounds silly (I think we are only like an hour from you!) but I would love to meet you, you have helped our family on our journey to eat healthier and raise great boys, and yet it seems you are so close but so far away! If you could figure out a time and place in Lincoln, that would be sooo amazing!
Yes, we will definitely do this in Nebraska soon too!
So close and yet so far! Any trips to beautiful Arkansas planned??? I’m in Russellville, pretty much central AR. You could come hike on one of the three mountains around here…or jump off of some waterfalls, or hit up some biking trails, or canoe down the Buffalo River…and ther is an excellent local coffee shop that is operated by Christians and is non-profit, donating a portion of your purchase to local charities. And they’re a venue for live local music. It’s pretty much awesome. Have I convinced you yet? :-)
I’m looking forward to this as well! Not only to meeting Laura, but also others in the Kansas City area with a common interest in the kind of nutrition and homemaking that Laura models for us.
Yay for Springfield!!! WooHoo!! I so hope I get to be there!!
Exciting! Hope to see you in OKC if our schedule allows!
Do you need a place to stay in COS?
As a matter of fact…
Do you have room for six extra people? :)
My church has a house. :)
Southern California sometime? You know you want to come enjoy our weather!! ;)
You have to come to PA! :-). You wanna see the other York Colege. Maybe next year :-).
