How to Make Delicious Iced Coffee that is ACTUALLY Healthy

It really is possible to make delicious Iced Coffee that is ACTUALLY healthy! And not that it matters, but is there anything prettier?

Yum

Confession: I didn’t take this photo. I grabbed it from an online photo subscription source that I love to utilize. Occasionally using their photos has enabled me to continue writing here since I don’t have the work time I used to have now that we have little ones in the house again! Without a doubt, their photos are better than mine anyway!

I tell you that for one big reason. When I make iced coffee, I use coffee ice cubes instead of water ice cubes. No need to water down our delicious coffee, right? And making coffee ice cubes is fun and easy!

There, now you know. Shall we talk about healthy iced coffee now?

How to make Iced Coffee that is Actually Healthy

1. I begin with a Dollar Coffee Club coffee packet.

They have two coffee options, but I prefer the taste (actually, I love the taste!) of their Burn and Control coffee. Here’s a quick summary of why their coffee is actually healthy!

Dollar Coffee Club coffee (formerly known as Javita) is filled with fabulous God-given herbs and mushrooms that our bodies need for great health. We could grow these herbs ourselves and utilize them every day to help cleanse our systems, give us energy, regulate our blood sugar, and so much more. Or we can take advantage of the fact that the hard work has been done and the wonderful herbs are already prepared for us in these delicious drink packets!

Typically, I make my coffee packet into a regular hot coffee. But to make it into an iced coffee, I simply heat a little water and dissolve the packet in the hot water (about 3 Tablespoons). Then, I add cold water, my coffee ice cubes, and voila! I have healthy iced coffee!

2. Next, I add 1/2 and 1/2 or heavy cream.

Lest you fear that the cream makes the coffee unhealthy, I will remind you that it is a real, natural fat that our bodies recognize and can utilize for nourishment. Hooray for cream! This makes it sweet enough as for my taste and preference, therefore I declare that coffee with cream is absolute perfection! My family disagrees and prefers something sweet with their cream. And so…

3. They add this NuNaturals Chocolate Syrup.

It is sweetened with stevia, but you can’t even tell! My family is a bit picky over most stevia-sweetened treats. But this chocolate syrup wins them over and is perfect to add to coffee and cream for a fabulously sweet (but not sugary!) coffee treat!

So, coffee filled with wonderful, healing herbs, plus cream, with or without stevia sweetened chocolate. THAT is how you can make an iced coffee that is actually healthy!

Are you an iced coffee lover?

NuNaturals Stevia Package Giveaway – Open Worldwide!

July 3, 2014 by Laura 319 Comments

Rarely am I able to offer giveaways to readers outside the U.S. I’m super excited that NuNaturals is making it possible that any of you can win one of these packages!

We’ve had some nice chats around here recently about stevia. I’ve concluded that my family will continue to enjoy stevia as a healthy sweetener option from time to time.

NuStevia Cocoa Syrup

If you’ve tried stevia and found it to be bitter, it could be one of two things:  You could be using too much, or you might not have found a brand that tastes good. NuNaturals is the first brand of stevia I found that tasted good to me. But even with NuNaturals, a little goes a long way. That’s the beauty though. A bottle of stevia lasts a long time, because we need just a few drops to sweeten an entire blender full of smoothie, milkshake, or other treat.

I’m excited that NuNaturals has put together a pretty sweet (ha, get it?) prize package for this giveaway.

NuStevia 50 Packets Top Angle

Four different winners will each receive:

  • 1 bottle of Vanilla Stevia Liquid
  • 1 bottle of Lemon Flavor Stevia Liquid
  • A 50 packet box of our NuStevia White Stevia Powder Packets
  • 1 bottle their new cocoa syrup
  • A FREE BONUS PRODUCT!

Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win.  For an additional entry, like NuNaturals on Facebook, then leave an additional comment here. I’ll draw four random winners on Wednesday, July 9. Be watching for a post stating the winners as you will be responsible for contacting me if your name is chosen.

Want a discount at the NuNaturals website? Use the code BLG1214 to receive a 15% discount on your entire order. This discount remains effective until December 31, 2014. You’ll also receive free shipping in the continental U.S. on orders over $35 (after discount).

My June Amazon Subscribe and Save Order, Plus Other Groceries That Came To My Doorstep

It was very fun to come home from our trip to a living room full of boxes to open! Thank goodness we have a young man living with us this summer since we were out of town when our monthly Amazon order came in. Bless his heart – I had forgotten to warn him that the UPS man drops by with boxes very frequently at the Coppinger house. :)

The boys had a good time opening the boxes to discover what Mom had ordered this month. Besides our Amazon order, we had a box from NuNaturals (watch for a giveaway later this week!). Plus, we decided to give NatureBox a try.

That was a super fun box to open! We tried some of the snacks yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed them. Having those snacks come to our door (free shipping!) is a treat. Whether or not we chose to keep our subscription or not remains to be seen, but we thought it would be fun to try it out. Have you looked into NatureBox?

Now on to our Amazon Subscribe and Save order. FYI: If you want to learn more about why I love Amazon Subscribe and Save and how I use this wonderful tool to save tons of money for my family, read this post. Remember, I have an Amazon Deals page that I work to keep updated with all the latest deals I find on real food groceries and homemaking items.

This month, I splurged a little on beverages. Typically, we drink water, water, water…and milk at our house. Okay, and one of us drinks a little coffee. But do you remember the post about how I get a soda fix without added sugar? My Amazon order shows you the most cost effective way I’ve found to keep these fun drinks on hand. What you see in this picture will last us for a LONG time. The Switch sodas will be lovingly rationed out for the next few months.

Oooh. Aaah. Toilet Paper.

Next, you’ll see that we bought cases of sliced black olives and coconut milk. Having items like this on hand are so helpful so that I can just grab them when I need them. These cases were on sale for a great price, plus Amazon was offering coupons at the time. I got super good deals and stocked up! For the record, I prefer regular coconut milk instead of lite – but I couldn’t pass up the price. :)  The coconut milk coupon is still good, by the way…as is the sliced black olives coupon.

Last but not least, I went a little crazy buying cases of my favorite brand of tuna. We go through at least 6 cans each time we eat tuna – so buying 72 cans seemed like a good idea, especially for cool, summertime meals.

My Favorite Brand of Stevia (and How to Get Some For Free)

June 10, 2014 by Laura 9 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

nu naturals steviaI’ve talked quite a bit lately about my new love for stevia. I’ve always known it was a great choice in a real food diet, but I just couldn’t learn to like it. Now that I’ve figured out how to use it correctly, I really am loving it!

The trick is to find a good brand of stevia, and to avoid using too much. Too much stevia, and your treat turns from sweet to bitter.

I love that stevia is all natural – it’s an herb that is naturally sweet. I love that it provides us with sweet treats that are completely sugarless. And I love that it isn’t an artificial sweetener (like Splenda or NutraSweet – those must be avoided!!).

Many have asked what kind of stevia I like and where I get it. You may not be surprised when I tell you that I order it from Vitacost, one of my favorite online resources.

What is my favorite brand of Stevia?

NuNaturals is the brand that tastes the best to me. I prefer either the NuNaturals Alcohol Free Liquid Stevia or the NuNaturals Clear Stevia. So far, I’ve not experimented much with powdered stevia. Therefore, I’ve only used stevia in liquid recipes, not in baked goods. Once I figure out how to do that well, I’ll definitely pass on the information!

How Can You Get Stevia For Free?

If you are a brand new customer with Vitacost, you can click through these referral links to sign up for an account. Doing so will give you a free $10 coupon code to use on your first order of $30 or more. That makes a bottle of stevia absolutely free to you!

Does Stevia seem expensive to you? It really isn’t. This is because you use just a few drops of stevia to add sweetness to a recipe. A little bit goes a lonnnnnnnggggg way. Sweet! (literally)

Now, go get yourself a free $10 to use on Stevia (or really, whatever else you might like for free). Then you can enjoy making all these guilt free, delicious, real food recipes like Homemade Chocolate Frappe, Chocolate Whipped Cream, and several new recipes that I’ll be sharing in the upcoming weeks that I’ve learned to make with Stevia. :)
