This weekend, I created a big bread mystery at our house. I made a double batch of Honey Whole Wheat Bread, making two regular loaves and two Cinnamon Swirl Bread loaves. I failed to pay attention to the pans I put them each into, therefore, when I pulled them out of the oven, I had no idea which loaves were regular and which loaves were cinnamon swirl. (duh)
One of them, I could quickly label by (pardon me) sniffing it’s underside. The other still remains a mystery. Here’s hoping we figure it out before it’s time to make tuna sandwiches. ;)

I’ve tried three times to make your Honey Whole Wheat Bread. Sadly, all three have been an utter failure. Yours look so beautiful, but mine are rocks. I’ve made bread before, so I’m not entirely new at this, but I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m pretty sure it has to do with the yeast step. Mine will NOT bubble. I know the yeast is good, because I used the same yeast to make your soft pretzel recipe (BIG winner in our house!!) and they were perfect. Yeast bubbled up fine. But it doesn’t for the bread recipe. Any ideas? (Oh, and I do the mixing/kneading in my KitchenAid mixer…don’t know if that makes a difference.) Thanks!
I’m not sure what’s going on. If the yeast isn’t activating, then that’s for sure why the bread is turning out like rocks. Not sure why it isn’t getting bubbly though. Water too hot maybe?
Ha Ha! I’ve done that before, except usually I go all the way to the edge on my swirl fillings, so you can see it on the ends after baking.
Maybe next time you could sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on the cinnamon bread. It tastes good and you could tell the loaves apart. :)
I’ve read your menu plans for a long time and I’m finally ready to start using them. Any tips from other users?
I was on a very restrictive diet for eight years and grew to really dislike all the cooking I had to do, but I’m ready to find a healthy balance for me and my family.
Thanks so much for this FREE resource. It’s a blessing!
