A Bunch of Azure Standard Stuff

March 12, 2010 by Laura 22 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

I wanted to give you fair warning. I’m going to be writing a few posts soon explaining the benefits and great aspects of ordering food from Azure Standard.

This information won’t apply to many of you. If Azure Standard doesn’t deliver to your area (and I’ll be listing those areas soon), feel free to nod, smile and click over to a post that means a little more to you and helps you in some way. (Like my Chocolate Chip Brownie recipe, which means a LOT to everyone I’m sure.)

But if Azure Standard DOES deliver to your area, I’m hoping to encourage more of you to take advantage of Azure Standard’s wonderful services if you can. I’ll be posting sales and special features as often as I’m able. Maybe weekly (if they have anything cool in their bargain bin), or just monthly as they update their produce and sales.

Azure Standard isn’t paying me to say all of this (although if they want to, I’d be okay with that). I just LOVE Azure Standard and want to spread the wholesome food love.

Yay! We do get Azure here in central Iowa so I’m looking forward to your posts. As I’m in the beginning stages of switching over to healthier options, I’m often in a quandary about what I should order each month. So this will be great!

Here are some posts that list some other co-ops and resources. Be sure to read through the comments to see what people all over suggest for co-ops.

Wow- I love this- but I’m guessing my area isn’t “cool” enough to be within the realms of deliveries. :(

Can’t wait to see more on this!

I keep forgetting to call ’til after business hours to see if they deliver to Western Washington. I assume they don’t since we are way up in the NW.

        Hi Kris,

I wondered if that was why they are closed on Saturdays. Do you know them? I can’t find it anwyehre the reason they are closed then, but I hoped that was what it was =)

        Sincerely,

        Kare

          Kare,

I have friends that are intimately aquainted with the Stelzer Family. They are not Seventh Day Adventist, but believe that Saturday is the true Sabbath, so that is when they celebrate. They also do a huge Passover Celebration every year (and they are not Jewish, either) which is why they close down for a week in April. It’s not to go on “vacation” like most would think of as a vacation. They sound like very neat people.

You should be on one of the “C” routes, in case you haven’t already checked. I just go tmy order On Tuesday, and I am once again, very happy. I am going to try to re-program myself to shop mostly at Azure once per month (although they do come through here 2x a month).

          Enjoy and Eat Well!

          Kris

Thanks for the quick reply! I am of the same mind as they are, only recently have I discovered that these wonderful things are for all of us and not just the Jews. =)

I am already on one of their routes and just placed an order. They have great prices and whenever I can, I like to help another brother in Yeshua our Messiah!

          Have a wonder-filled weekend!

I also was wondering why Azure was closed on Saturdays, and just assumed that they were SDA. I spoke with one of the customer service reps earlier this week, and was told that they were Jewish. I just read your response to someone else who was wondering the same thing, and you stated that they are not Jewish. If you ever find out what their affiliation is, that would be great to know. Until I read your post, I thought that they might possible be Messianic Jews.

I’m a Drop Point Manager in California, and was pleased to see the Scriptures in their publications, but I’ve never seen anything along evangelical lines i.e., John 3:16, etc. Just curious. : )

I recently called and while the can deliver here, we are the very fringe of the delivery area so it costs more and there aren’t any established drop points near me. :(

You can start your own drop point if you get enough people to make the minimum. You also do not have to do it every month. For a long time, I simply ordered when I could get an order together to make the minimum. Now I have 14 on my drop, so I can order 1x a month.

I just got my very first catalog last week and I am super excited about placing my first order. I can’t wait to see your posts as well! They will be great for an Azure newbie like me.

I am gluten free and I am especially looking forward to getting affordable flours to bake with. Oh, and sweeteners. I want to try out some of the healthier sweeteners that you have been talking about.

    Laura,
I live in a rural midwest town that has very few Organic or natural food options. So when I read here about Azure Standard AND found out that they have a drop site just miles from me I was thrilled! I have not placed an order yet, so I am very excited to read more. I can’t wait to order a few boxes of those gorgeous apples!

Also, have you ever order the large bags of sucanat? I just wondered what the stability and shelf life was like.

Thank you for all of your wonderful posts… and your readers for their nice comments. I have learned so much. The biggest being that you CAN make small changes that don’t break the frugal pocketbook. You have a gift for presenting the information that doesn’t feel overwhelming to me as a newbie!

Yes, I’ve bought their big bags of organic sucanat. (Be sure to get the organic kind. I think they have just “regular” sucanat which is tempting because of the price, but the quality isn’t nearly as good!)

I just scoop it out and put it into big plastic containers (to keep critters out) and it lasts me months and months.

If Azure Standard does not come to your area, do not give up! A couple of years ago they did not come to mine….but I recently found out they now do. Hooray. I just placed and received my first order a couple of weeks ago. I live way out in the country so it is a huge blessing to have this great source now.

I know this is an old post but I thought I would add some info. Azure has grown significantly in the last few years. Drops are now available all over the US and some items can be shipped to Alaska and Hawaii. We are in rural Oregon and get a delivery every month.
In regards to the comments about being closed on Saturdays, it is because they are Hebrew Brethren. :-)

My wife and I use to live in Duluth, Ga and, moved into the Lower Blue Ridge Mountains. We heard about AZURE and the closest drop was about 30 miles away. We wondered if the organic food and the prices would be worth driving that far. We were amazed at the quality and the prices and we continue to purchase from them.
