Just in case you’re interested, I thought I’d let you know that my hot pepper hands finally stopped burning Tuesday and I can now put contacts in my eyes without pain. My eye (for those of you who were worried) really was completely fine as soon as it got the milk swish. It was my hands that continued to burn and for THAT reason there was no way, no how I was going to put a fiery finger in my eye to insert said contacts. All appears to be back to normal with the eyes and hands and I have vowed never to touch another pepper again for the rest of my life (or until I need to cut up another pepper which could really mean…tomorrow). I will however always and forever wear gloves when cutting peppers.
I say all of that to let you know that I have not suffered any permanent damage…and also to let you know that the folks over at Blogher enjoyed my Hot Pepper in the Eye Remedy post enough to re-post it over on their site. This is a great honor and I’d love for you to head over there and check it out!
In other news (in which I continue to send you away from my blog to read my writing elsewhere)…I have posted again over at Deal Moon, sharing yet another quick, healthy and easy lunch idea.

…can’t access Blogher… ??? I’d rather just read your wit here anyway ;-)
I wasn’t able to access it either.
It denied me access too! Even after I logged in. Maybe I’m not special enough? :( I like reading your posts here too!
Sorry about that…I got the link fixed…I think!
I have a smoothie every day as part of my lunch. I use frozen organic berries( a mix), orange juice or my kids Vruit, wheat germ and whole flax seeds. Love them!

What kind of muffins are pictured above? They look yummy! Thanks, Laura!
They are simple Honey Wheat Muffins – the recipe is in the What to do with the Kids in Your Kitchen ebook. Sometimes I add chocolate chips to them!
Looks like we have something in common then. I have a meal planning blog and have been wanting to try out a new recipe I found for Jalapeno Poppers and since Jalapenos were a price matching item at 2lbs for $0.99 and I needed 15 peppers for the recipe I bought some during this weeks shopping. The hubby was working late last night and my son was in bed so I decided to make them. Even though the recipe said to wear gloves I though “I don’t need gloves” and my hands were burning all night long and finally gone this morning. I did get my adventure with making these on my blog but I will be sure to wear gloves next time.
The same thing happened to me. I began to cut a great deal of hot peppers, not realizing that I was touching them without any gloves…my hands felt like they were on fire for almost three days. Eventually it went away, but it is something I will soon not forget!
I am glad that you are doing much better :-)
Blessings,
Maria
Laura, we love smoothies at our house, too! Can I ask what kind of blender you have? I have gone through at least 2 in the last couple of years. They just quit working after a while. Wondering if I just need to break down and buy a more powerful one, i.e., more expensive one?
Thanks!
We just have a cheapo Walmart blender…but we use is ALL the time and I seem to have to replace blenders frequently. I think we’ll probably eventually save up to get a vitamix…I’ve heard such great things about them!
