I look forward to it…long for it even. Homecoming weekend here at York College always brings lots of house guests, soccer games, and festivities. All throughout the weekend, we run into so many friends that we love catching up with. Often, we don’t know who will be coming, so bumping into people we love all throughout the weekend is always so much fun!
One of the highlights of this weekend was that Matt was able to talk his former YC roommate – the best man in our wedding – into making the trip from Texas. They played soccer together, traveled to church camps together during summer breaks, and have been wonderful friends from the time they first met. Having him here for the weekend was fantastic. The only thing that would have made it better is if his family could have joined him. Next year. (Cindy, that was a hint.) :)
Here they are after playing in the alumni soccer game. Watching my guy play in that game is a highlight of my year – probably because it is a highlight of his. Why yes, he did score a goal that day. :)
Before all the running around began, we were able to sit in the living room and play games together. Love this.
I had the most fun making meals for all of our guests. I’m thankful I had so many meals made up ahead of time so that I was able to relax and enjoy my company. Our friend Lisa was celebrating her birthday while she was here, so the Cake Boys rose to the occasion. That episode will be coming soon, I’m sure.
Lisa loved the cake. Well, we all did, as a matter of fact.
The hugs, the visits, the fun – they all filled me up and left me refreshed. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people God has put in our lives to encourage and sharpen us.

Hi! Thanks for hosting! This will be my first time linking a post for gratituesday. I love your blog and am grateful to be apart of it today!
This week my Gratituesday is easy! I am so very thankful that you guys thought of me when the deep freeze was available. I have wanted one for so long! And now I’m having so much fun planning all the freezer cooking and stocking up I can do. Thank you for being such a blessing to me and my family!
I’m grateful that my God blessed me with the ability to frugally homeschool and design displays/decor. I have much gratitude for the joys and trials in my life, each reminds me of how real God is in my life.
What a blessing to have so much love!
We have some friends that we see once a year too. The fellowship is phenomenal. I loved your post because it reminds me what a joy those reunions can be!
My darling husband <3
I loved the pictures Laura and loved the story. So glad you were able to see so many people who bring a smile to your face. My Gratituesday blog post is a little different today. Come see what I mean.
Love you sister

Sounds like a wonderful time of fellowship with old friends. :)
I just linked to my gratitude post … didn’t realize that the “your name” section (in which I entered my name) was going to show up as the post name. Oh well – I’ll know next time :)
One of my fave parts of getting together with family is playing games. We are all so competitive at times lol
What a lovely, God-filled celebration you had! Praise God for refreshing times with family. Thanks for hosting, & God bless!
Just linked up! Very grateful for my sweet hearted children today!
glad you had such a wonderful reunion!
I am new to this link up party. I look forward to going through your blog and getting to know you and some of the others better. Looks like you have been blessed with family and friends!
I’ve always wanted to go to my college’s alumni weekend, but haven’t made it back yet. Maybe next year!
So thankful for clean air! We live in Wenatchee, WA where we had a month of hazardous air quality. Thick smoke hovered over the valley from all the wild fires burning around us. We were blessed with rains and some nice winds the past few days. We were outside today breathing it all in! Thank you Lord!
Thank you for the linkup this week!!
You are more than welcome to drop over for my linkup over at WholeHearted Home at midnight 10/17/12 :-)
