Gratituesday: More Than Enough

I have a funny habit when it comes to enjoying my music. When I find a song that I really like, I sit at my computer and listen to it over and over and over. I mean, like obsessively. I can’t necessarily get any worthy writing done while I’ve got music cranked up at my computer, but I can answer emails, organize blogging schedules, or pay bills while I listen and sing.

Let’s just pause right here to (let me get on my soap box and) note that I think real worship happens on a Sunday morning while at church, and while you’re sitting in your sweaty work-out clothes at your computer on any day of the week. I love both and feel that both are necessary. Life is worship. Sweaty work-out clothes are optional. ;)

My most recent song obsession is More Than Enough, by Newsboys. One of our boys got the CD for Christmas, and we’ve been listening to it often in the van. I love Newsboys. This song – it’s an incredible worship song. I could go on and on, but the song speaks for itself. Play the song and join me in worshiping the God who is more than enough.

Ohhh! Wish it weren’t too late for me to turn listen without waking up the kiddos! :)

Worship is singing in church and in our workout clothes! Beautifully put.

Love your weekly thoughts – there are some days I listen to worship on my computer too and I love to have my ipod playing while I’m at the computer. I also love to listen to worship music while I clean house and drive, etc. It brings such joy to every chore to have your mind focused on worshipping our GREAT GOD!! :)

We’ve been playing “God’s Not Dead” over and over in honor of our 3 year old who loves belting it out while he rides in his wagon on walks. I never buy CD’s, but we may have to buy this one!

I LOVE that my kids love the same group I loved when I was a teenager. I should say groups, because Newsboys is now more like DC Talk. We’ll see if that holds a few more years until I have teens!

I’ve definitely had to remind myself of this ALOT recently. I traveled from Tennessee to Wisconsin to be with my new grandson for a week. After I’d been there for 2 days, my husband’s mother (83 yrs old) was in a very serious car accident in Wisconsin. So, he threw the dog in the truck, got the neighbor to take care of my dairy goats, and drove to Wisconsin. We’re all back home now, but my mother-in-law probably won’t make it. She’s ready to go home to be with her Lord and Saviour. So, that means another trip to WI. And my goats are going to be having babies in 4 weeks, so I can’t be gone more than 2 or 3 days. Also, I came home from WI with a terrible cold. I haven’t been sick in forever, and now I am feverish and just feel icky. I’ve got so much to do to catch up from being gone. Sorry to sound like things are so terrible, because they’re really not. The God that is more than enough has everything in His hands. I had a wonderful time with my grandson, our travels were blessed with good roads and traffic, my goats were okay without me, and my mother-in-law may be with God himself very soon. So, anyway, I just had to get that out. Thank you for the song!

Thanks for sharing that. We love music here at my house, and I don’t think we listen to worship music nearly enough. We had a birthday at our house yesterday, amd my “little boy” is now 19.

crank it up in the car, at home – and dance(if its possible)! worship is anything that puts a smile on the Fathers face:) I am transfixed by Anthony Evans Jr new cd (he sang at our church recently). his version of ‘how he loves us so’ is unbelieveable – brings me to tears. he is also on ‘The voice’ so rooting for him to to proclaim Jesus big and loud! I use spotify on the computer cos then I dont have to buy music I’m not convinced I want! its awesome! have a great tuesday!

For anyone on a tight budget, you can buy just one MP3 song (on HH Amazon’s link in this post) or you can listen to music on your computer for free on Pandora Music, a free internet music radio site. Signing up is free and you just type in your desired artist or genre and you get endless streaming of music you want to hear. You can delete songs if you don’t like a particular one Pandora selects. You can also type in just an artist like Newsboys or a specific song title and make your own station playlist. Pandora will keep playing no matter what other websites or computer work you are doing. It also displays the lyrics and album for every song, with links for more info on the artists. You don’t have to stay on the Pandora site to hear the music, just keep it open in a tab. You can also crank your computer and listen to the music while you are away from your computer. If Pandora senses no activity after awhile it will just prompt you to ask if you’re still listening and a simple yes click keeps the music coming…all for FREE! I am thankful for that!

I absolutely agree that worship is not for 1 hour on Sunday but all through the week, anywhere you are. I always have a song in my head singing it all through the day and many times it is a song we sang sometime during our assembling with the saints. The song I have in my head this week is “The Last Mile of the Way”. I can’t get it out of my head and am going to memorize all the words. I tend to avoid any songs of praise with instruments because of the distraction for me of the meaning of the words and phrases. Shirley at emptynesthomemakers.blogspot.com

I’ve never listened to the Newsboys before, but I usually don’t care for that style of music. I decided to listen to it anyway, and I ended up really liking it! Still, my favorite artist is Keith Green; I also like Robin Mark, Paul Wilbur, and Michael Card. Probably my favorite songs ever are “Scripture Song Medley” and “The Lord is My Shepherd” both by Keith Green. I could spend hours listening to music (and probably have before:) and not get tired of it; it’s one thing I’m always thankful for. Thanks for the great song!
