Hearty bean casserole sounds great. Will you post the recipe?
It is a DELICIOUS casserole that my family loves!! I don’t have that recipe posted on my site, but you can find it in my What to do with the Cow in Your Kitchen ebook: https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/what-to-do-with-the-cow-in-your-kitchen-ebook
LOL! The not stealing your sanity part just made my day!! And looking at that yummy picture makes me wish I was best friends with you… so you could drop some at our house! LOL I’m early in my second trimester and I have NOT been feeling well for most of it, so needless to say, we are off track in couponing, stockpiling, and planning in general. :S If anyone has any tips on how to get back on track – or better yet – stay ON track – when you have a little one about AND you’re truly not feeling well, they’d be so much appreciated!!
I’m not sure it’s possible to stay on any kind of track when you’re feeling so sick and trying to keep up with a little one at the same time. At that point…you go into survival mode!! Hang in there! Wish I could bring you over some of that food!! :)
No great advice, just hang in there. I was so sick my first trimester that
eating healthy went out the window for a while. I did my best, but at
that point I just needed to eat whatever would stay down. Once you start
feeling better you’ll find you just naturally get back on track. I’m
in the 3rd trimester now and fatigue is starting to get the best of me
and my desire to cook from scratch is fading. On “good” days I try to fill
the freezer or prep as much as possible.
Thanks ladies :) I kind of figured as much… I am feeling my best
yet today; got out and did a little deal-shopping, chopped and cooked
potatoes for homemade hash browns that I’ll freeze a lot of tomorrow
once they’re cooled. I think I’m finally ready to tackle the grocery
flyer sales (that are over tomorrow! LOL) and get us a meal plan
together – see if I can’t get that freezer filled back up. Thanks for
the kind words! Best to you both :)
Thanks!! Really appreciate the chocolate milk recipes. And in looking over your menu plan for this week {which I do steal parts off now and then} I notice you have pancakes planned for Tue. Did you plan that with national pancake day?? :-)
Oh, look at me being on the ball and not even knowing it!! :)
Well, rats! Its’ the sanity I wanted!! I really thought it would be nice to have just a bit…it’s been a long time.
Why do I loathe menu plans so??? Why???? HELPPPPPP!!!!
I really want to start menu planning to, but something about seeing it right in front of me… makes me feel like a slave to something, like if I don’t follow it I’ll be a failure?!?! LOL I really think it’s a smart idea and I want to do it, just seems time consuming to me… anyone else use the say mmmm website? It looks interesting, but I can’t see myself typing and adding all my recipes to the site though…
You know…while I think menu planning is a great idea for most…it really isn’t for everyone. If you’re able to pull off healthy meals in some sort of organized fashion for your family without a menu plan, they YAY for you! No need to do something you hate unless you truly feel like it would be something that could help your life. :)
I actally have a post (almost) ready to share in the next couple of weeks regarding this very thing!
I can’t do menu-planning – I’m just not into it. BUT – I have resorted to checking YOUR menu and just taking what I like from it and making it!! Our family is still very small and my babies are little so we eat a lot of leftovers. I posted on my blog about some of the recipes I have tried and love so far!

I also am trying to get my hands on a grain mill and I’m trying to locate a company around here I can buy my grains in bulk from! We do a crop share and buy our meat from a local farmer but I still use all-purpose flour. I can’t get over the cost of whole wheat flour yet!! Maybe I’ll score one soon.
