Our Light and Momentary Troubles

March 7, 2014 by Laura 3 Comments

Rarely do our trials feel light or momentary. We know in our hearts that God is in control, but living peacefully in that truth is hard when we are focused on what is seen on this earth. After all, much of what we experience on this earth is challenging.

While praying for some friends of ours, God led me to this passage in 2 Corinthians this week. I was so encouraged by these words from Paul. Truth:  We are being renewed daily. We fix our eyes on Jesus, knowing that our eternal glory outweighs everything we struggle through on this earth.

Praise God for His truth and promises! Knowing my tendency to rely on myself and on the things that are seen, I printed this verse out so that I could post it on my fridge and be reminded of these truths.

I created a printable of this passage to share with you.

Hold on to truth!

Free Printables: Christmas Gift Tags

I know many people don’t share this excitement with me, but I love wrapping presents! I lay all the gifts out, admire them, get excited about watching the recipient open them, then get to wrapping. I enjoy choosing the wrapping paper and gift tag that I think best matches the person I’m gifting. I’m not a perfectionist when it comes to wrapping, so the process goes fairly quickly for me. That may be part of why I don’t mind the job. :)

Just for fun, I created two pages of printable gift tags to cut out and attach to gifts. Feel free to download, print, and use them as you wrap gifts this year!

Free Printables: Christmas Cards

I’m not great at sending out Christmas cards anymore. I have zero guilt over this. I have found other ways to be in touch with loved ones and find that taking “Send Christmas Cards” off my holiday to-do list is a great relief.

However, I still often find that it’s nice to have a few Christmas cards on hand to add to gifts, to put with a plate of cookies we’re giving away, or to simply encourage someone. I had fun creating a few different cards that I printed off to grab when I need one. Then I made each of the files into downloads to share with you!

Simply download the files below, print the cards on plain white cardstock, cut them apart, fold in the middle, and use them to bless people!

Making Your Christmas Count

December 1, 2013 by Laura 4 Comments

It’s too easy to get caught up in the hype of a commercialized Christmas. This year, our family decided to work a little harder at working less hard. We’re drop-kicking the stress of Christmas time. We figured the best way to keep Christ in Christmas is to do what He did on earth. He served. He loved people. He cared. He took time to be still and pray.

Together, we sat down and made a list of how we could really make Christmas count this year. Here are just a few of our ideas:

Making Christmas Count Ideas 2

We continue to add ideas as we think of them. In fact, our page is almost full now. Will we get them all done? No, and that’s not the point anyway. We’re working hard at not working hard, remember? Our list is a brainstorm. We’ll pray about how God can use us during this season, and we’ll let the rest go.

We’d love for you to join us this year in Making Christmas Count! We made a free printable to share with you so that you and your family can make a list of your own. Let’s enjoy serving others this holiday season, remembering and appreciating the One who came to serve.

You may remember this free download as I’ve offered it before. Now that it’s fall, I wanted to share them again!

There are six different recipes in this set of cards. These recipes all really hit the spot this time of year. It’s fun to put together one of these yummy recipes, then attach the corresponding recipe to the item and deliver it to a friend or neighbor. This set includes:

  • Applesauce Bread
  • Whole Wheat Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
  • Black Bean Salsa
  • Cheesy Salsa Enchiladas
  • Chewy Granola Bars
  • Easy Noodle Stir-Fry

Download Fall Recipe Cards Here

Details and instructions for downloading and printing these recipes cards:

Once you click this link, you will need to click “save as” to save them to your computer. Then, you can open the folder. These recipe cards are in a “zip file”. If you are unsure how to open this to access the recipe cards, here is a simple tutorial that will show you how to open a zip file.

These cards were designed at 300 DPI, and are 4×6 in size. You can print them on your home computer/printer, or take them to your favorite photo processing place for printing. (Walmart and Walgreens make excellent prints for less than 20 cents per card).

While you may NOT print these cards and resell them, there is no limit to how many cards you may print and give as gifts!

Free Printables From Heavenly Homemakers ~ Fun Canning Labels

September 1, 2013 by Laura 2 Comments

It’s canning season (she says as she wipes tomato sauce out of her hair.)  I love this time of year (after it’s over). There’s nothing I love more than seeing jar after jar of homemade canned produce (finished and cleaned up after).

What can I say? I’m a little tired from putting up peaches and tomatoes. But the work is worth it as we are becoming well stocked on food for winter.

In honor of this season, what better free printable can we offer than some pages of canning labels – cute canning labels at that!

HHM-Chevron-Labels-printable-preview1
Because we know that not only do you enjoy freebies and cute labels, you enjoy blessing others also – some of the labels sport a “Made for You” tagline if you are choosing to gift your jar of goodies to someone else. Or some are left blank so that you can use them as you wish. These are available in four different colors – all have the “Made for You” or blank option.

What if you don’t do any canning? You can use these labels in all sorts of other ways too! They’d be great to put onto the top of a wrapped loaf of Applesauce Bread or plate of cookies. Better yet, bake the Applesauce Bread IN a jar.

Need more “Gifts in a Jar” inspiration? Check out all of these ideas.  Download this free Gifts in a Jar eBook too.

Download as many pages as you would like!

If you want to print them directly onto sticker paper, you’ll want to look for 2″ round sticker labels, 16 per page – like these.

Free Printables from Heavenly Homemakers ~ Galatians 6:9 Wall Hanging

freeprintables2

It’s one of my favorite verses. I quote it to myself often. It gives me strength, and helps me know that what I am doing as a homemaker, mother, wife, servant, friend, and child of God is not without purpose. It reminds me of my calling for God’s kingdom. And it encourages me to continue to seek Christ for my strength and focus.

Galatians69color_sm

This week, our free printable is this beautiful wall hanging for you to print, frame, and hang in your home. There are two different options – blue and black, or gray and black.

Wanting to bless someone else too? For just a few dollars, you can print and frame this and give it to someone who needs encouragement.

I printed this, put a piece of coordinating blue cardstock on the back, then framed it (for two bucks). I LOVE having this in my living room!

My New Facebook Page and a Round of Applause For My Designers

August 19, 2013 by Laura 1 Comment

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

You’ve got to go take a look – my Heavenly Homemakers Facebook Page just got a makeover!

See, I told you we had fun new things to reveal this week. Free printables, new Facebook page, and that’s not all. There’s something else we’ve been working on, and I’ll share that later this week!

Let me be very clear about the “we” who has been working on all of these projects. I am very clearly not a designer. I’m the one who was trying to decided between white or off-white when picking paint colors for my living room. Designing, choosing colors, and creating art is not my gift. (Be relieved – I called in for back up and had an artistic friend of mine come help me pick great living room paint.)

The free printables we’ve started featuring will all be created by Charlene of Delight Design. I send her the ideas of what I’m looking for – she turns them out better than I even picture them to be! My new facebook design was done by Andrew of Andhedrew.com. I love what he’s come up with! It’s so great to have brilliant and talented people behind my ideas for this site. I’m very thankful.

So, go check out my new Facebook page. Go grab the Free Printables we’re starting to offer. And be thankful I’m not trying to create these entirely on my own. White documents with black New Times Roman text is not cute.

Hey, and if you haven’t “liked” my Facebook page yet, I’d love for you to do that while you’re over there. We’re working to improve that page to share more ideas, tips, recipes, and fun, and we’d love for you to join us!

Free Printables from Heavenly Homemakers ~ Encouragement Cards for Lunchboxes and Beyond

freeprintables2

I am very excited to share a new feature here at Heavenly Homemakers! We all love free printables, do we not? Each week or two, I’ll be offering something new for you to download and use – for FREE! Our goal with these printables is to bless you in your homemaking efforts – and to encourage you to bless others as well.

First up:  Encouragement Cards

The original intent with these was to provide you with little cards to slip into your kids’ lunch boxes so that they know you’re thinking about them and praying for them while they are at school. (Or if you homeschool like I do, you can instead slip these under your kids’ plates at lunchtime, or maybe place one in a book they’re reading so that they find a surprise encouraging message from mom when they aren’t expecting it.)

Beyond surprising our kids with these, if you look real close, you’ll notice that most of these can really be given to anyone you’d like to encourage! I’ll be sliding these into my friends’ Bibles at church, tucking them in with a loaf of bread I’m delivering to someone – the possibilities are endless really.

Best yet, while some of the cards already have a message included, there are plenty left blank as well. That way you can write an encouraging message or scripture to someone you feel called to bless.

You are welcome to download and print as many as you like!

Mary Had a Little Lamb

May 15, 2008 by Laura 6 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. For more information, please see our disclosure policy.

Just thought I’d let you know that all these years…you’ve been singing the Mary Had a Little Lamb song wrong.

Here’s Malachi’s version at age three:

Harry had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb…
Harry had a little lamb, police is white as snow.

And HERE is Elias’ version…which proves how ornery this six year old is!

Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb…
Mary had a little lamb…she threw it out the window.

Yes, that’s one that will make a mother proud.

;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That little post was written back in 2008 when my blog was young and so were my little boys. Those two are 11 and 14 now. Beware parents: this really happens. Your kids are little and then suddenly they aren’t. I don’t know how this happens.
Not surprisingly, eight years later my sons still make up lyrics to songs. Sometimes the lyrics make sense and sometimes they are ridiculous. But I tell you what, parenting kids at any stage is amazingly wonderful! (I’ve even got one in college now. What?!?)
What I have for you here is something for your little ones and something for your almost big ones. (I don’t have anything for the very big ones, just advice: Feed them well, love them fiercely, be their biggest cheerleaders.)
As a special gift to you as you might find yourself needing to little help getting over winter blues and spring fever, I’ve created March “In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb” Activity Packets. They are FREE.
There’s a packet for Pre-K to enjoy, as well as a packet for K-5 to enjoy. Use them in whatever works best for your family!
