Dear Husband Who Isn’t Sure What to Get His Wife for Her Real Food Kitchen

December 16, 2015 by Laura 9 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

Hey Ladies. Today, I wrote a post to your husbands. I thought they might appreciate some sly gifting suggestions. You can thank me later. Feel free to read this and put brightly colored stars on your computer screen to mark which of these you really want your husbands to take note of.

Dear Husbands,

I’m Laura. Nice to meet you. I spend quite a bit of time with your wife each day. We have fun together. Perhaps she’s mentioned me? You’ve likely eaten a thing or two that I’ve shared here. It was probably that one recipe that you said, “Mmm, this is good” and she said, “I got the recipe from that one heavenly homemaker lady who has four sons and loves butter and hates cleaning. She can’t talk and cook at the same time, but her recipes are good.”

Today I wanted to offer you all a little bit of help. Christmas shopping for your wife can be a bit overwhelming. I get it. Once my husband asked for a dremel for Christmas and I started to cry. (Not really. Maybe.)

Not only can I give you some pretty good ideas about what your wife might love for Christmas, I can even tell you where to get them. I’ve already done the price comparison. Not that she’s not worth a billion dollars, right? But she’ll love the gift more if you don’t knock out the food and toilet paper budget for the month when you buy her gift(s).

Now keep in mind, you know your wife best. If she’s not into practical gifts, by all means ignore me and go buy her something from a jewelry store. But if opening an appliance or a box of casserole dishes says, “My husband loves me so much!” then this is what you’re going to want to look into:

Pyrex

Pyrex dishes are more romantic than you think. I probably have over 30 pieces of Pyrex in my kitchen and they are more beautiful to me than diamonds. Important: If it doesn’t have a lid, it’s not worth having! Get your wife Pyrex dishes with lids because she can do so much more with them!!!! (Do I sound bossy? I’m really not bossy. I just feel strongly about my Pyrex lids.)

My favorite and most useful sets of Pyrex with lids:

Pyrex Smart Essentials 8-Piece Mixing Bowl Set

Cast Iron

Cast Iron is very healthy to cook on and turns out delicious food – in particular pancakes, grilled cheese, and scrambled eggs with bacon. Get cast iron for your wife and you will reap the rewards, I promise.

Cast Iron Griddle

Cast Iron 3-Piece Skillet Set

Stainless Steel

It’s so shiny! (This is the practical gift version of a gold necklace.) If your wife wants to ditch her teflon (I recommend it!) this stainless steel pots and pans set is a wonderful replacement.

Cook N Home 12-Piece Stainless Steel Set

stainless steel cookware

Silicone

For a lower budget, or for a little add-on item to hide in your wife’s stocking – I have two fun little silicone items I love and use all the time. These will make your wife’s baking efforts easier. You want to make her baking efforts easier.

Silicone Baking Cups-24 Piece- Food Grade Silicone Baking Cups, Star and Round Shape-comes in Six Assorted Colors

silicone4

Artisan Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat – 2 Pack

silicone mats

Nutrimill

I’ll follow the least expensive items with the two most expensive items. A Nutrimill has the potential to change your life (and save you money in the long run). Your wife can grind flour in it, making the most delicious breads and waffles you’ve ever eaten. As an added bonus, this makes your baked goods healthier. You won’t know about that though because you’ll be too busy enjoying your homemade bread with butter.

Nutrimill at Paula’s Bread

Blendtec

This is the priciest of all, yet perhaps the most useful. I use my Blendtec several times every day. It has saved me so much time! You’ll never need to buy another blender again.

Blendtec Designer Series Blender, WildSide Jar – Black

As for the wrapping, you’re on your own. I’ve done all I can do here.

Order quickly, Men. Time is running out. May you have a wonderful Christmas morning in which your wife opens her gift(s) from you, then throws her arms around you and says, “Now I can make you the best pancakes ever!!!” Trust me when I say that these gifts offer a win-win situation for both you and your wife. You might want to also order a jug of Maple Syrup for the pancakes she’s going to make you. Just saying.

Sincerely,

That Heavenly Homemaker Lady

How You Can Get a Completely Free $15 Gift (No Catch! You Could Actually Make Money on This.)

November 24, 2015 by Laura 6 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

topcashback7

What if you could get a fleece throw, a pajama set, a new top, a fun toy, jewelry, or another awesome gift of your choosing completely free? Man, I love coming across deals like this. It’s not just a deal. It’s a freebie. And if you work it right, you could even make extra cash on this.
topcashback1
Here’s the scoop: TopCashBack is a rebate site that offers a percentage value back on any purchase you make through their site. Sometimes they partner with other companies like Wal-Mart or K-Mart to give start-up freebies to new sign-ups. I’ve used TopCashBack for about 2 1/2 years now and have found them to always pay what they promise. You can trust this site.

topcashback4

This time, new members can pick anything from the K-Mart website ranging from $1-$20. TopCashBack will refund $15 to you, which will turn “payable” within 30 days. At that time, you can transfer that $15 from your TopCashBack account directly back to your bank account. If it were me, I’d be grabbing something for less than $10 so that I don’t have to pay shipping and so that I get a completely free item. On the other hand, if you get something closer to $20, you’re still getting $15 back so you’re still getting a great deal. (Just don’t get something for over $20 or less than $1 or the deal won’t go through properly!)

topcashback3

In addition to this – if you have a K-Mart close to you, you can select Free Store Pickup so you can get a free $15 item and avoid dealing with shipping costs altogether.

Are you ready for the specifics of how do get this deal?

How to Get a FREE $15 Gift

  1. Click this link to sign up for a TopCashBack account and to get all the details. (This offer is good for new sign-ups only, and that is my referral link.)
  2. You will be redirected to Kmart.com where you can select any item you like between $1 and $20.
  3. Add to your cart one item ranging from $1-$20. You may purchase anything you like, but in order for this deal to go through, you must not add any other items to your cart or transaction!
  4. If it is an option for you, click on “Free Store Pick-up” so that you won’t have to pay shipping. If that is not an option for you, I recommend selecting an item for less than $9 so that the $15 rebate will cover your shipping cost. No matter what you purchase, you’ll get $15 back. So if you spend less than $15, you’ll be making money on this deal!
  5. Don’t put anything else in your cart!! Proceed to check out and complete the purchase.
  6. Within 7 days, TopCashBack will refund $15.00 to your account.
  7. Within 30 days the $15.00 will become payable and you can transfer it to your checking account, your paypal account, or turn it into an Amazon gift card.

This offer ends Friday, November 27, 2015 at 11:59 pm PT. Do this now before you forget and enjoy your fun freebie!!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Free Printable: Caramel Apple Dip Gift Tags

September 29, 2013 by Laura 3 Comments

freeprintables2

What I love about so many of these free printables is that while they are cute, fun, and functional – they also encourage us to love on and serve others. Since it’s fall, and typically we can get our hands on lots of apples – I’ve been thinking that it would be fun to make Homemade Caramel Sauce, put it on a jar with a gift tag, then put it into a basket of apples to give to someone. Wouldn’t that be a fun and cute gift?

And so, I gave the idea to one of my designers, and here is what she came up with:

CaramelSauceTag-prev

I love it!

These cards can be printed on white cardstock, cut and folded over. You can write an encouraging note inside to the person you plan to deliver the basket to. The tags were created with both “Homemade Caramel Sauce” on the front, and with a blank front if you’d like to do something else with it.

Fun, cute, FREE – and a great way to bless someone. Download the gift tags below. Then get to work on some Homemade Caramel Sauce! Have fun!

Download the “Homemade Caramel Sauce” Tag here.

Uplift Your Spouse in Prayer

Uplift Your Spouse in Prayer

Intercessory Prayer – Matt’s Thoughts

Blogs are great because run-on sentences are acceptable. So, here goes.

I pray for my children, the elders of my local church, the movers and shakers of our country, those with specifics needs I know about. I pray for those in tragedies many miles away because that is sometimes the only way I can help. But I feel like I can pray best for myself and the one I know most intimately, the one I share the most joy and pain with, the one I’ve failed the most, the one who needs my grace, the one I’m teaming up with to parent our children, the one who lives with my annoying habits, the one encouraging and sharpening me in my faith, the one who vowed for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health until death do us part, the one I committed myself to for life, the one…praying for me.

No Greater Gift – Laura’s Thoughts

Wives, we can try to do all the right things. We can cook his favorite meals, work to manage our home in a way that is most pleasing to him, and try to meet his needs in all the ways he prefers. But none of these tasks are as important to our healthy marriage as making it a priority to pray for our husband’s needs, and asking God to grow his character into the godly man he needs to be.

Husbands, you can be a hard worker, provide well for your family, help out around the house, and work to meet your wife’s needs in all the ways she prefers. But if you are not praying for her, bringing her needs before the Father, asking God to work in her heart for His purposes…something vitally important will be lacking in your marriage relationship.

There is no greater gift we can give our spouse than the gift of prayer. Uplift one another before God. He’s waiting to hear you and to work in your relationship in mighty ways.

Ladies, we know you’re reading here more often than the guys. ;)  We’d love husbands to read this article as well. If you feel so inclined please send the link to your husbands, or if it’s easier, we’ve created a downloadable article for you to quickly print off and share. Healthy Marriage Tips A to Z – Uplift

Gratituesday: My {surprise} Gift in a Jar

October 31, 2011 by Laura 17 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

Do my friends know me or what? I mean, true friends are the ones who give gifts in jars, right? ;)

I’m not sure how she did it. I’m guessing somewhere between greeting me and hugging me after church on Sunday, it would appear that my (sneaky) friend Lisa put this into my purse:

Turns out, it’s a jar full of wonderful dried mint, that Lisa grew herself! So that’s why my purse felt a little heavier when I was leaving the church building on Sunday!! (You’d think I would have figured it out sooner.)

What a fun surprise. It kinda makes me want to figure out ways to sneak gifts into people’s purses at church too. Gifts in jars, of course. What a fun way to make some-one’s purse heavy surprise someone with a little extra love! This idea is totally making it into the Gifts in a Jar eBook (after Lisa gives me all the details on how she made this, of course).

I’m thankful for friends and fun surprises. What are you thankful for?

Share how God is working in your life on your blog, then come link up with us here. If you don’t have a blog, be sure to leave a comment letting us know what you’re grateful for!

If you are linking up a blog post for Gratituesday,
please copy and paste the following sentence into your post! Thanks!

Gift Certificate in a Jar

August 24, 2011 by Laura 35 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share some commission.

Welcome to the post in which I encourage you to buy packages of high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors and food coloring. Brace yourself – there are no vegetables mentioned, nor do I offer suggestions for using whole wheat flour or coconut oil. Once you see the idea, you’re sure to understand and know full well why frozen peas just wouldn’t cut it for this project. ;)

It is no secret that I love jars. I have cabinets full of jars, I store my leftovers in jars, I preserve a lot of produce in jars.

Knowing of my jar obsession, Teresa emailed me the fun idea of using jars full of candy as a way to package gift certificates. I loved the idea and was very excited to finally make use of it last week at a baby shower I helped host.

Several friends pitched in money for the mother-to-be. I used the money to buy a gift certificate, then filled a pint jar with brightly colored Tropical Skittles. (Yes, you should have heard my boys when they were unloading my shopping bags.)

I stuck the gift certificate down inside the candy, put on a lid, tied a bow around the jar and had a lovely gift ready to present to my friend.

I think this would be fun to do at Christmas time with red and green M&Ms or for a graduation gift using candy that matches the graduate’s school colors.

In case you’re wondering, one 14-ounce bag of skittles was exactly the right amount needed to fill a pint sized jar (with a few leftover to give eager children who may or may not be standing by watching you fill the jar).

What kinds of fun ways to you use jars?

(And by the way, aren’t you proud of me for giving away one of my beloved jars at this baby shower? I didn’t even ask my friend to give it back to me when she was finished with it. I almost did, but stopped myself just in time, so as not to appear obsessed. Shocking.)

Yes…or No? Do you think Malachi is proud of his Tiny Tee Shirt?

malachi_tshirt

Lindsy, who owns Tiny Tee Designs, sent it just for him…and yes…he is very proud of it. So proud in fact, he’s been very careful not to wipe his grimy hands on it during lunch. This is amazing.

Lindsy also sent a couple of her adorable baby onsies for me to have on hand for the next couple of baby showers I attend. I love them all…but just check out this one with the tie. Baby can look just like a tiny business man in that one!

These onsies and t-shirts are very reasonably priced and great quality. These aren’t the kind that shrink or look dingy after one wear! Malachi’s worn his several times and it still looks great!

Did I mention that he’s proud of his shirt?

malachi_tshirt_2

Lindsy would like to give away any one item from her shop…anything you choose…even a custom design shirt! Head on over to Tiny Tee Designs and take a look around. Come on back here and let us know what you might be interested in! I’ll choose a random winner on Monday, July 5.
