Menu Plan for the Week

On Monday mornings, the boys always sit down with their journals and write about what they did over the weekend. If I were to sit down and do the same, here’s what I would write (in my neatest handwriting of course):

This weekend I…hosted a birthday party for Justus. Three of his friends came over to spend the night on Friday. On Saturday, we spent time cleaning up after the party and resting up after the party. I made a batch of Chocolate Graham Crackers and a double batch of Honey Whole Wheat Bread. It snowed a ton, so we made snow ice cream (twice). I got completely caught up on laundry (which lasted for five minutes). We went to Walmart and I had to say, “Please stop touching your brother” somewhere between three to twelve times. On Sunday afternoon, I made Justus a cheesecake (highlight of the week so far).

What’d you do this weekend?! :)

Here’s what’s on our menu this week!

Sunday, Feb. 15 (Justus’ 9th Birthday and meal choices!!)
Biscuits and gravy
BBQ benefit dinner for our friends
Cheesy turkey sausage stromboli, tossed salad, strawberry cheesecake

Monday, Feb. 16
Simple soudough pancakes (recipe coming this week), scrambled eggs
Sloppy joes on homemade buns, cottage cheese and peaches
Honey mustard chicken, baked potatoes, green beans

Tuesday, Feb. 17
Crepes with jelly, bananas
Alphabet soup, bread and butter
Shrimp stir fry, tossed salad

Wednesday, Feb. 18
French toast
Salmon patties, homemade mac and cheese, applesauce
Bbq meatballs, cheesy potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots

Thursday, Feb. 19

Fruit and yogurt delight, toast
Spanish rice with chicken and corn
Deer steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas

Friday, Feb. 20
Omelets, oranges
Homemade pizza pockets, pears
Chicken fajitas, fruit salad

Saturday, Feb. 21
Whole wheat donuts
Grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches, chips and salsa
Beefy vegetable soup, cornbread muffins

On the blogging menu this week:

  • My easy sourdough pancake recipe
  • Gratituesday, of course!
  • A simple discipline idea we use
  • Another post in our Women with a Mission series
  • We’re going on another food field trip!!

Here’s to a great new week!

Yum!! Do you have a certain way you make your gravy? Would you mind posting your recipe or is it one of your books? We love gravy around our house, but I’m too chicken to try making it myself so we don’t eat because I can’t bring myself to buy those little packets or other store bought versions. :) Thanks!
    Love your blog and recipes!!

I’ve been looking for a good meatball recipe. Would you mind sharing yours?

Hi Laura, I am going back to my menu plan and amending it to include your cornbread muffins. I just had it listed as a menu item but wasn’t sure what recipe I would use this time. Now I know. I use your recipes all of the time! Thanks, Tiffany

I caught up on laundry this weekend too, and it lasted about 5 seconds as well. I loathe laundry.

Laura- I need from scratch cooking lessons! You inspired me and I don’t have a clue where to begin. I am proclaming you “my bloggy, in scratch cooking mentor!” Wow- can you handle that?!? Hope you have a great week!

    Hello,

Your menu sounds yummy! We are having sloppy joes this week too — but we are having store bought wheat buns. Your homemade ones sound delicious. I’m going to print out a copy of the recipe and give them a try.

    Take Care,

    Trixie

Shrimp stir-fry sounds delish. I’ve got everything on hand for that so I’m going to add that to my menu planner.

My favorite day would be Saturday. I used to plan the same day. Now I plan the day before. Progress :) It’s so fun to get to “visit” the blogs from Bloggy Carnival now that I have time and can read and post.

Hi! Love your website and all the GREAT ideas! Question for you…on the honey whole wheat bread, can I make the dough in my bread machine and then bake? I’m not too good with kneading and such…
    Thanks!

Thanks for posting your menu plans. It helps me think of new ideas when I can see what other people are cooking.
