Freezer Cooking for July

Um, first let me say that it felt very weird typing “July” just now. Really? July already? Weird.

Anyway, Freezer Cooking for July.

I’ll be doing a little extra cooking this week to try to stock pile some grab and eat foods.

Here’s a list of food I’m hoping to make and freeze (or eat) during the next few days:

  • A Whole Chicken cooked and deboned/Very Veggie Chicken Broth/Rice Cooked in Broth
  • Hamburger Buns
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Homemade Peanut Butter
  • Taco Seasoning Mix
  • Whole Wheat Vanilla Wafers
  • Chicken Fried Steak Strips (using this freezing method)
  • Bean and Cheese Burritos
  • Honey Whole Wheat Bread

It may take me a few days to get all of these foods made up. I just so happen to be in the middle of a huge, very big, gigantic, enormous project that I hope many of you will find interesting. If, that is, I EVER in my long leg-ged life get it finished! Matt is helping me. The boys are helping me. I’ve been getting very little else done but hours and hours of sitting at the computer…

I’m excited to tell you about it within the next few days if I can at least get one more tiny (big) thing finished enough to show you.

But let’s just say that having some of the above foods prepared ahead would be a good idea so that as I’m working away on the computer, the boys have something besides watermelon chunks or bread crumbs to eat.

Anyone care to take a guess about what I might be working on? I’ve mentioned it here before, but it’s been a while.  ;)

Jim’s long weekend is coming up. Think I’m gonna do some freezer cooking and fill up that tiny little fridge/freezer. :) Can’t wait to hear what you’ve been working on so feverishly!

Well, I haven’t been a reader of your site for very long, but I’ll gander a guess that you’re working on a book? How very exciting, whatever it is. I know it’s nice to get to sit and focus on something and actually finish it! Blessings!

I think it is a B-O-O-K, the real kind you know not an e-book.

    Laura,
I was sitting here like a good girl clicking on the links I need to get my grocery list ready and thinking, this is gonna be a breeze! I’m gonna pick out a few of these ideas for this week –the taco seasoning mix, burritos, chicken fried steak strips, and move along because I’ve got a busy day ahead! Good intentions. Twenty minutes later, I’m still following links, reading and giggling at jar addictions and shaking in the kitchen while making the taco seasoning mix. And it could go on from there! Your blog is addicting and apparently I need a timer to keep me on track. You write with such humor and love for family.

I am expecting a baby next week, and am getting lots of great ideas for freezer cooking from your blog! We just had the Giant Breakfast Cookies this morning, and they were delicious. I put all the leftovers in the freezer to save for baby time. Can’t wait to eat them…I mean have my baby. ;)

I’m hoping it’s a BOOK, too!!! You have a plethera of information on this site, and it would be wonderful to see it in book form!

Also, in your Freeze Ahead Meals, can you provide information about the best storage containers? I’m tired of freezing containers that crack while in the freezer! I would love to get a more professional opinion!!

Thank you for all you do, Laura! I have to agree with the other commentor, who said your site is addicting!! It truly is! :)

Thank you for sharing this, Laura! Our baby is due to arrive in about 4 weeks and I still need to put up some quick freezer meals for after the birth. Can’t wait to try some of these out!
