I’m in it for the bubbles. Easy Sparkling 100% Juice is so very perfect.
I shared all kinds of thoughts (that didn’t necessarily make sense) about “how much I love drinks” in this post. I guess with warmer weather coming, I’ve been thinking more about fun drinks (not that warm drinks aren’t fun in the colder months too, of course).
One of my boys’ favorite things to splurge on is Martenelli’s (and by boys’ splurge, I should clarify that they prefer it if we parents do the splurging, because it is much easier to enjoy something if someone else has paid for it).
Have you tried Martinelli’s? It’s a very tasty sparkling cider that is 100% juice, made especially fun because it comes in a cool bottle and pours out nice and bubbly. I find it in the juice aisle at Wal-mart.
Martinelli’s is great for a special occasion, like New Year’s Eve, when I might not mind spending close a few extra dollars for each of us to have a sip of sparkly bubbles. But for a random Tuesday, I’m a little more selective about where I put my grocery money.
Soooo, we’ve found a way to have our sparkling juice and drink it too. We call it “Mom-inelle’s” because I invented it and we are all quite proud. The boys are especially happy because this invention means they can enjoy this fizzy drink more often than every December 31.
This has become the drink we enjoy when friends come over, and it always receives rave reviews. Note that you can add any 100% juice that you choose. We’ve discovered that our favorite is 100% Cranberry. Who knew? 100% Grape is a close second.
You may also find it fun to make this with combo-juices like 100% Cran-Raspberry or 100% Cran-Grape or 100% Apple-Raspberry.
It may just be us, but we have also found that this Sparkling 100% Juice tastes best with Mexican food or Pizza. There’s just something about fizzy drinks with food that has a bit of a spice. Try this!
Easy Sparkling 100% Juice
- 11.5 ounces of frozen juice concentrate (thawed, butnot diluted)
- 33.8 ounces Seltzer water (carbonated water)
- Pour the juice concentrate into a ½ gallon jar or pitcher.
- Slowly pour in the seltzer water (if you pour it too quickly, it could bubble over).
- Stir slightly so as to mix the two liquids but not release too much fizz.

P.S. If you’re having a hard time giving up soda (pop/coke/whatever you call it where you live) – I recommend this fizzy juice as a great alternative. :)
great idea! Try Sam’s club or other big store after New Years. Sometimes you can find expensive bottled sparkling juice for cheap. My sister found 3 bottle packs of the apple juice one you talked about for $1.41. That is about 47 cents per bottle! When she called I told her to get as much as she could put in her van LOL! These bottles were the regular wine bottle size bottles. Still have some down in the basement and it is not yet expired. Kids have had so much fun with their “sparkly” :)
I used to do this when my kids were growing up and called them spritzers or juice spritzers (I think!). I used flavored mineral waters, too, as they’re plentiful in Wisconsin. Have you ever tried the soda stream-style appliance? We have one now, and it can be used like the seltzer water. Cheers!
P.S. Have also made juice kefir, which is a delicious bubbly and healthy drink — almost tastes a little like a bubbly wine. If anyone is interested, I’ll post instructions for that.
I’m interested in juice kefir; I’ve only tried the type of kefir made with milk. I’ve made our own, too, with a purchased powder mix. Good thinking.
Hello! Yes, I use a good quality kefir starter (keep in fridge, granules in small packet) and use one packet for a quart of 100 % juice. It sits on the counter for 4 – 5 days, using a glass bottle with lid. It will be quite fizzy after that time period; then it should be refrigerated or it will get too strong. The great thing is, you can use 1/4 c. of a batch to start the next one and can apparently do so indefinitely, not just for 7 generations! There is an excellent video on the Breadbeckers website for making kefir this way and using juice. Hope you can try it!
P.S. After the initial batch is made, it only takes one day for subsequent batches to get fizzy!
Thank you.
We like fizzy drinks too! Never tried it this way though. Sounds yummy. We use the Soda Stream with liquid stevia and then add extracts…like vanilla extract makes a cream soda flavored water …rootbeer, orange, grape, etc. And it’s sugar free. Oh don’t use xylitol unless you want a volcano. Guess how we found out. :)
I make this for our family also. We really like it! Thanks for your posts……have awesome day!
Hi Pamela,
I would be interested in the recipe for juice kefir. Thanks!
Hi, Tina! I posted some information about it as a reply in my original thread above. Hope you like it if you decide to try it!
I have done this for years. I also make my own flavorings so that I can make my own homemade sodas. there are several books on making home-made sodas that use club soda or seltzer water
Oh yes, I love it!! I use club soda though, which appears to be quite similar. I love it with popcorn (which i eat with parm cheese) – yum!
I work at an awesome little cafe that specializes in local, healthy fare and we make these! We call them juice fizzes. Right now we have cherry cider, mango passionfruit and elderberry! They’re so yummy.
Thanks for the tip, Laura! Our family (growing up) always made sparkling juice drinks for special occasions and holidays, but they were not quite as healthy as we simply mixed ginger ale with juice (in whatever ratio you like). That is nice for a treat, but your idea to mix a sugarless sparkling beverage into concentrate is ingenious. We also purchase packages of the sparkling cider or grape juice around the holidays. Looking forward to trying this!
My mom bought us a soda stream a few years ago. We have started adding frozen 100% juice to the carbonated water instead of buying the unhealthy soda syrups. Very yummy!
