French Toast made with Cinnamon Swirl Bread
The no-good flu bug has hit our house. Fever, body aches, coughing, no energy, no appetite, no good. Elias and I were down for several days last week and are just now starting to feel almost normal(ish)…just in time for Malachi to wake up with a fever today. :( Matt’s been holding down the fort. What would I do without him?
Since Elias and I have been lying around together for days (being pitiful), he helped me with our menu plan for this week. Ah, it would appear that our appetites are coming back. :)

Looks like a super yummy week. I’m going to try your breakfast cake this week, my kids will be so surprised when they see cake for breakfast. :)

Laura, have you tried Elderberry Syrup? When one of my children came down with the flu (a confirmed case), we started giving everyone Elderberry Syrup. Since Elderberry fights viruses, it kept the rest of us from getting the flu even though we were in direct contact with the sick person for several days. It doesn’t work for bacterial infections (strep, pink eye), but is wonderful for viruses. You can even make your own syrup from the fruit (dried or fresh). Hope you (and your son) recover quickly. God bless!

So are you going to tell us which boots you chose? I am also looking for new boots – I live in Wisconsin and desperately need some! :)

Praying for health for your whole family :) Looks like a yummy week–I do have a question though–What do you do with your menu plan when you get sick and do not cook–or cannot cook. I find that every time I start menu planning someone in the house gets sick (usually with something gross like the stomach flu) and then the chili I bought everything for is not really an option, because who really feels like eating chili when your holding the puke bucket and just waiting for it to hit you next??!!! I find I really struggle with sticking to the menu–or I don’t really feel like eating what I planned for the day–so i don’t make it. I really want to learn to save money on groceries and not waste so much by being organized. So the big question is–How do you keep on track?
Laura says
I definitely don’t always keep on track with my menu plans…sometimes I hardly keep on track at all. If that’s the case, I just carry over a meal I have planned for this week into next week. I know I’ve already got the ingredients anyway, so I just plan it for the following week if I didn’t end up getting it done this week!

Thanks so much!!!

I think I will also do nachos for a meal…or two! ;) I’ve got all the ingredients in the house. Your menu plan is a neat place to get ideas for my own.
