Menu Plan for the Week

Here is what I said to my boys one morning last week:  “You are brothers. That means you are on the same team. Stop treating each other like enemies, be nice, and for Pete’s sake, stop all that ridiculous arguing!!!!!”

Oh wait. That is not the quote I meant to share. Goodness.  What I really wanted to tell you is that one morning last week, I was able to say this to my boys:

“To go with your breakfast, you can have cherries, blueberries, kiwi, apples, raspberries, pineapple, clementines, pears, strawberries, nectarines…or a banana.”

Yes, we actually had eleven different varieties of fresh fruit in our fridge or on our counter-top. Can you say spoiled?? (Our family – not the fruit.) It is unbelievable to me how blessed we are in America to have all of these wonderful choices. I love how many great fruits are in season right now – filling my kitchen with goodness. Truly, we are so, so blessed.

And then, there are all the wonderful frozen fruits in my freezer:  strawberries, mango, pineapple, peaches, and blueberries. These Pineapple Mango Smoothies have been rocking my world. They are perfect on a warm afternoon when we all need a snack to hold us over until dinner.

My girls seem to be on a quest for world domination. Unfortunately the world is my house and their weapons are shrieks, pulls, scratches, punches, and general anger. It’s horrific in the summer when they have all day. They find reasons to fight about everything. I tell them we’re a team. I model good team behavior. I did the Orange Rhino challenge and don’t yell. It matters not, they are beasts. Your menu plan looks AMAZING and all thought out. I’m working on mine now and was both shamed and inspired by yours. :)

I have 4 boys also ages 5-15. The oldest 3 are a little less than 4 years apart. Most days, they treat each other horribly. I try to explain to them that family will be there for you forever, and they should treat each other like it. When push comes to shove (with other people), my boys do stick up for each other. But it should would be nice to see some mutual respect between them on a daily basis.

They will figure out that they do like each other when they are all grown and married and rarely see each other. Our five are the best of friends now but they do not live in the same house so I suspect that helps!

My girls are 3 1/2 and 15 months I love watching them together, even when they fight it’s cute. I see the fruits of my labor in training them and leaving my house a mess and going literally no where some weeks to spend one on one time with them :). My family may think we live like pigs, but our family genuinely loves being together, that’s better than vacuuming 1x/day in my book! (Plus my eldest vacuumed our living room today, ok only like 5 feet square but it’s a start!)

Our third daughter is due in about 3 months, we are so excited!

I have 2 boys (5 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old), and WOW do they argue, fight, and are just generally loud. Very loud.

Right now, for the first time in days, they are actually playing with Duplo blocks together, and being sweet, nice and loving to each other. YAY!!! I’m so enjoying it, and hope it will get me through the next round of arguing that’s sure to come soon. :)

I am pretty sure I have used almost those exact words with our two oldest boys that are 13 and 15. Maybe I will just tell them to sit and eat a fruit or veggie next time they start arguing. We would certainly eat healthier….
