Menu Plan for the Week – Feel Free to Steal Ideas!

Here’s a peek at my grocery store run this week. I was excited to get 2-pound packs of butter for $3.97, so I bought enough to build a tower on my table. There were quite a few price-matches for cheese that I took advantage of. Then I loaded the rest of my cart with fruits and veggies!

We keep our meals simple at our house. All real food (at least as much as possible) and heavy on fruits and veggies – but simple. Take a look through the following lists and grab some ideas for your week!

Breakfast

  • Blueberry Streusel Muffins
  • Ham and Egg Breakfast Bowls
  • No Knead Whole Wheat Bread
  • Scrambled Cheesy Eggs with Spinach
  • Whole Wheat Waffles with strawberries
  • Warm Vanilla Soother
  • Banana Bread

Lunch

  • Bacon, Egg, and Avocado Salad
  • Taco Salad
  • Ham and Cheese Pasta Salad
  • Pizza Boats
  • Meat and Cheese Burritos
  • Spanish Rice
  • Taco Potatoes

Dinner

  • Grilled Hot Dogs (for High School Huddle)
  • Alfredo Sauce with Pasta
  • Popcorn Chicken
  • Sloppy Joes
  • Barbecue Brisket
  • Cheesy Salsa Enchiladas
  • Chicken Noodle Soup

Fruit and Veggie Side Dishes (I serve 1-4 with each meal)

  • Green Beans
  • Broccoli
  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Applesauce
  • Peas
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Homemade Pickles
  • Mixed Greens
  • Spinach
  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Clementines
  • Mushrooms
  • Asparagus
  • Zucchini

    Hi Laura,

    I enjoy your blog and am learning a lot! I am a mom of ten with only four still living at home. When I had everyone at home I fell under the category of “extreme couponer” only we didn’t really stockpile, we ate and used what was purchased with coupons! :-) Food, although processed and not very nourishing, was plentiful, fast and easy to prepare and I rarely heard “what is there to eat?”. Shortly after coupons and couponing policies changed, I began to learn about real food. I have been slowly making the change and am thankful for what I have learned on your blog. I am “down” to four kids at home from 14-19, the two younger are boys. My question is “How do you keep your boys full and of course, not break the budget?!?” From what I’ve read, your boys are active too. Do you offer snacks and if so, what? At least one of my boys is always looking for something to eat! :-) He loves fruits and some veggies, but sometimes feels that is all I am offering him. lol

      Yes, my boys all need snacks, particularly in the afternoon and another before bed most nights. It’s a lot of food! Fruit and veggies is our first snack choice, then after that, as long as it’s (mostly) nourishing, I let them pick from whatever they can find in the fridge or pantry. I appreciate Sarah pointing out my newest ebook. That’s full of great, easy, healthy snacking recipes. :)

    I notice you have zucchini on the list of fruits and veggies. How do you prepare it?

      I usually slice it and fry it in a little oil, then salt it. I have a new recipe I plan to share tonight that includes zucchini that we really like!
