**Be sure to take note of the giveaway at the end of the post!!**
We are having a very heart filled day. I wonder how old my boys will have to be before they start thinking heart shaped food is silly? My 12 year old still likes it (or at least acts like he does), so I think we have a few years left before heart shaped food on Valentine’s day becomes extinct at our house.
I made Matt (and everyone else) a special breakfast of Peach Cobbler this morning. I figure…it’s fruit and I make it with sucanat and whole wheat. It’s definitely healthy enough for breakfast.
I loved seeing Matt’s face when he came down to breakfast!
(The boys were in on it ahead of time and kept it a secret from Daddy!)
Here’s what we’re snacking on this afternoon…

:)
My motto for the past year or so is “if it wasn’t food 100 years ago, it is still not food today!” Your recipes seem to fit this perfectly. Thank you for sharing with us all. Blessings to you and your family.
Sometimes when I make breakfast for dinner, I make blackberry cobbler and my husband always says this is dessert not dinner. But I just inform him that my mom used to make it for breakfast so it’s ok if we eat is as well. :)
Peach cobbler for breakfast…YUM! I have enjoyed reading your blog and following your healthy eating journey. I also got the ‘Nourishing Traditions’ book from the library so I could better understand your ingredient lists. It’s been very enlightening to say the least. Thanks for sharing your ideas and recipes.
I love reading your blog!! I would love to have one of your recipe books!
I would love this e-book because I love the fact that you cook with the most basic ingredients. The peach cobbler sounds delicious.
Your chocolate graham crackers look fantastic. Happy Valentines Day!
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
Peach cobbler for breakfast sounds delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. :-)
I love your blog. I haven’t tried a recipe yet from you that my family doesn’t like. :)
I would love to learn to cook some desserts and yummy stuff that is better for us. Anything made with real maple syrup would be a hit in my house!!
Peach cobbler sounds so yummy! I never would have thought of it for breakfast. Sure beats a pop tart. :-) Your heart graham crackers look great, too.
I absolutely love your blog. You are totally my inspiration on the wife/mother I want to be.
Peach Cobbler for breakfast! I love it! I just discovered your wonderful blog and I think I’ll be adding it to my list of Favorites!
Your hair looks great today! Is that nice enough? :) Seriously, I really enjoy your blog, from both a nutritional and faith standpoint. I like peach cobbler too!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks sweet treats made with whole wheat and fruit are great for breakfast :)
Yeah for giveaways. Well, I have a bunch of canned peaches that I could use a good cobbler recipe for! Hmm, love your ebooks too. Enjoy your blog- check it everyday (more than once sometimes). Recipes are great! I have a baby and he will love all your kid friendly recipes.
I’ll try, try again — my comment disappeared! :o
My family would love to eat cobbler for breakfast! =) I even have some peaches in the freezer — just don’t ask me how many years they have been there (they are from a tree at a former residence) – time for them to GO somewhere.
I also left a comment with question on your salmon patties.
Thanks, Laura! I’m off to make some heart-shaped pancakes for late supper.
Something nice? That’s easy! I thought it was so very sweet that you wrote a letter to my husband that he should buy me a grain mill. And it worked! :>)
Laura,
I am so grateful to have found your blog a few weeks ago. I have learned a lot, found some wonderful recipes, and been encouraged by your words. Changing over to the Nourishing Traditions way has been a slow process for this cook and baker. Your blog is one of the most helpful I’ve found. Thank you!
Have a wonderful Valentines Day!
Kris in Oregon
Hi from sunny Australia…..just found your website yesterday and it looks fantastic! Even though we are in the middle of summer over here – that peach cobbler looks great for any kind of weather! Yesterday I tried some of your recipes..yum! The meal plan idea looks great too. Thanks.
God Bless,
Brooke
Happy Valentines Day! You are a wonderful inspiration to me!
My daughter and I had so much fun last night making your heart shaped soft pretzels for her friends at church today….and they tasted wonderful too! Thanks for sharing!
Peach cobbler, nice choice and a great idea! I’ll have to borrow it soon.
I enjoy reading your blog- keep up the hard work!
We’ve been enjoying our canned peaches lately… I’ve been stingy with them because our tree has been in an every-other-year production mode. Which means it might not give us any (many) peaches this year. But– your peach cobbler idea inspires me to use some from our freezer. Or some of the apricots I got from Azure, that I wasn’t sure what to do with. Apricot cobbler? I think we could manage that.
Thanks for the idea (and the ebook giveaway)!
i would love this book. i think my favorite recipe that i’ve found from your site is the simple soaked pancakes – they have become our Sunday morning staple.
This sounds very yummy, especially for breakfast! Thanks for all the great recipes!
Happy Valentine’s Day. Thank you for sharing your life journey with us. You blog is a joy to read.
What a great giveaway… I would love to win it!
Thanks for your awesome site!
Thanks for another great post. I really need to get back in the habit of writing a weekly menu. Every week I see yours and wish I was that organized!
I love your blog and reading your menu plan each week. Thanks for all your hard work!
I just came across your blog a few days ago and I love it! I added you to my Google Reader! Love the healthy and natural recipes!
I just bought a bag of whole wheat flour. Please help me figure out what to do with it! :)
I too love fixing healthy “treats” for breakfast. My kids favorite is ice-cream. :)
I just LOVE your blog. We are trying to incorporate healthier ingredients in our diet so this would be so very helpful!! Thank you for all your tips and recipes.
I have been reading your blog for quiet sometime and really enjoy it. I have tried alot of your recipes and they have all been very good. Please keep them coming…
I love all your recipes…well the ones I’ve tried so far! Thanks so much for creating them.
This recipe ebook is on my to-get list.
I love reading your blog – it always makes me smile :)
What a GREAT blog!!!! I’m returning from a brief stint on the dark side (extreme couponing – aka processed garbage in a box) and so happy to be preparing healthy whole food meals again. These recipes are just what I needed to get back on track. Let’s see…I made honey whole wheat bread last night, Breakfast Cake this morning, chocolate graham crackers for snacks, and cheese crackers and pretzels are on my radar for this week. Thanks Laura!
Yummy! I love themed menus, and since we have 2 very little girls, I think I’ll be able to get away with heart shaped food for many years to come!
I love your blog! Your recipes look sooo good!
Love your site, recipes and stories!!
Wow! You are a fun mom…and wife. I don’t know what my family would do if I served cobbler for breakfast!! :)
I love your blog. I have learned so much from you. One of the things I like the most is that you make eating healthy still fun (cobbler for breakfast, ahem). Thank you for all the work you go to for your readers.
I’d love to win the e-book! All of your recipes are so good!
Yes, whole grains + fruit = great breakfast!!!
I love it. I learn so much from reading your blog – not only about cooking, but as the mom of all boys as well, I can relate to MANY of your stories. ;)
Peach Cobbler for breakfast=YUM!! How do I not have that book?
your recipes sound delicious and I love that they are healthy too.
These are some of my favorite posts that you write. You give me so many great ideas and my family loves almost all of them.
I just stumbled upon your website a few weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it! Thank you, thank you for all the work you put into helping all of us mom’s have a place to find recipes that our children will love, and we will smile knowing that what they are eating is actually healthy. Yay, this is the end of the snack wars in my home! Thanks again, you are great!
We love your recipies, the book would be great. Thanks for posting.
Love, love, love your recipes!
Hi from Australia :-) I’d love a copy of that book!!
The peach cobbler looks fabulous! We didn’t have anything heart shaped here today, but I did make my family homemade waffles and sausage patties for brunch. My husband and I feasted on a dinner of filet mignon (from our 1/4 grass fed cow purchased for $3 per pound), and Alaskan king crab legs after our son went to bed. Plus, I made a blueberry pie!! YUM! :)
I want to be a cool mom like you and feed my family [healthy] peach cobbler for breakfast! I would love to win the book.
I am allergic to peaches, so I would use plums, blueberries, or maybe blackberries instead.
I look at each recipe and thing how I could adjust it for my allergies. Tomatoes is the hardest one and something, I just have to skip eating some foods.
Laura, I love reading your site and am always inspired by your writing and recipes. I’d love to win this and have access to even more great recipes. Thanks!
I totally made heart shaped graham crackers using your recipe this weekend too! How about that! The boys and I had them gone in two days.
I actually already bought your cookie e book before, so I’ll pass, but I do so love it!
Your menu sounds fantastic! I think I need to snag a few of your suggestions like I did a while back. I love everything you make!!
Mmmm, I could totally eat peach cobbler for breakfast. I absolutely LOVE your website and have a similar philosophy about food as you do. I try to make what I can from scratch and feed my family healthy, non-processed food. It’s a joy and a blessing.
You inspire me to step out of my cold cereal comfort zone for breakfast. Peach cobbler, here we come! (My husband thanks you from the bottom of his heart)
I love the idea of heart shaped food! How fun! My daughters would all love it and my husband would LOVE the cobbler (it is his favorite dessert no matter the kind!).
Not saying it just cause I would love it, :-) but living overseas I can never participate in give aways. An Ebook is a GREAT give away idea!!! Looking forward to trying to some of your great recipes on your blog!! Thanks
oh, we love peach cobbler! and for breakfast! what a treat.
Your cobbler looks divine! I am looking to get a grain mill once our tax return comes so this ebook would come in handy.

Love your site!!!!
I would love to have this book!! I am always going to your blog for recipes. You have inspired me to eat more at home and from scratch. My hubby thanks you. :) Hope you have a blessed day. I must get to teaching. :)

I LOVE reading your blog and getting great ideas for feeding my family well…and at a reasonable price – you inspire me not to “settle” for store bought things but to make the time to make things from scratch – THANK YOU!!! I would love to be able to make more of your yummy recipes!!!
I only found your blog in the last 2 weeks but have already tried the giant breakfast cookies, chocolate graham crackers and wheat waffles. Everything is delicious! I look forward to trying many more recipes as I’m seeking to avoid all the yucky stuff in store bought foods. I’ve been convinced to buy a wheat grinder:) I enjoy your posts about homeschooling also as we’ve just begun the journey with homeschool kindergarten. Thanks for all of your inspiration and I would love to win the e-book!!
I’m a sugar addict, so I need a guide telling me how to make yummy sweets in a healthier way! I think this e-book would do the trick!
This is one book I have my eye on! Peach cobbler is my favorite! I love making sweet treats with good sugar and whole wheat flour because I feel good about feeding it to my kids, and having seconds!! Yum!
What a great giveaway! I’m always looking for more healthy ways to satisfy my husband’s sweet tooth! Thanks!!
Love your blog/web site, Laura! Look forward to learning more from you!
Something nice…not too hard to say to a woman who shares great recipes, funny stories about herself and real life with so many of us!
Thanks for all you do and cobbler for breakfast is even more exciting than breakfast cake…your family is lucky!
Heather
I love finding your site where food can be healthy AND delicious! I’ve been working on the healthy part for a few years, but struggle with making it delicious. Thanks!
It is wonderful to see a Mom staying home and taking care of her family, feeding them well, etc. Keep up the great work! Love your blog. And I would love to win “Have Your Cookie”. Thanks.
I would love to learn how to make some “healthier” desserts! I also like to serve heart-shaped foods on Valentines, for me it was heart-shaped eggs on heart-shaped toast.
I LOVE your blog and it has encouraged me to cook and bake healthier for me and my family. I have started using more whole wheat flour and just sticking to unbleached all-purpose if needed. I have also been using honey in my baking in place of sugar!
This book would be great to add to my collection!
=]
Something Random. there.

Laura, you are such an inspiration to me as I am making the journey to healthier eating for our family. I love making your whole wheat cinnamon buns and now am looking forward to making graham crackers. YUM!
I love reading your blog. You always give me great recipe ideas. We also had a heart shaped day yesterday…on my menu plan was heart shaped pancakes with strawberries for breakfast, heart shaped sandwiches for lunch, and heart shaped meatloaves for dinner.
Oh I love your menu plan. I just wish I was that organized!
Quick question – has anyone ever tried to freeze the Cheesy turkey stromboli? Would it be best to cook it fully before freezing? Looking forward to trying this out this weekend. Thanks
The peach cobbler looks great!
Yay! I found your blog a few weeks ago and have already used quite a few of your recipes (your whole wheat bagels? SO yummy – and I actually MADE BAGELS!) And I surely wouldn’t mind having a few more recipes ;-)
I LOVE your site! It’s fun and educational all at the same time. I would love the book! Thanks for all you do :)
I would really love to win this book! I have three chidren that love cookies and things and we are very early in on our eating healthy journey so it would be a big help! Thanks so much for the chance!

Just found your site, lovin’ it, & am making the warm vanilla soother for our daycare kids in the am.

Hi Laura,

Thursday night we will try the Salmon Patties with Ranch Potato Wedges! Maybe I should double these recipes also! YUM!
I have just started reading your blog in the last few weeks and enjoy it immensely. Thank you for your recipes and the humor with which you approach family and food.

I don’t know how you choose! I’m commenter 149! That is so amazing! You are touching and blessing so many lives through you website! Wow! The cobbler looks delicious! Your meals look amazing!
Ooh, I don’t know if I’m too late, but I’d love one.
I think the boys may not ever admit it, but I think they’re NEVER too old for heartshaped food. Besides,It’s probably good for them to have a feminine touch from their mom now and then to help them be better husbands.
My MIL felt that she would be selfish training her boys to put the toilet seat down since she was the only female in the house. Ahem. What about ME? His future wife? and his future daughter(s)? Anyway, we’ve come to a good solution in our family over that, but I wish a few things like that had been handled by his mother. :)
We love using whole wheat but haven’t tried using natural sugars; therefore, this book would be great for us to give them a try. Thanks for spurring others to better health. :-)
This would be a wonderful book to add to my recipe collection.
Thanks for all the menu inspiration! I’m making a big list right now, and your menus are so helpful!
I only thought we were eating healthy, then I found your site. We love every recipe and they are easy (a bonus to mom). Every biscuit recipe was a failure until I found yours. Thank you!!!!
I hope I haven’t missed the giveaway! I have recently switched my family over to nearly all homemade meals, and using only whole wheat and natural sugars in baking. Your website has a wealth of resources and recipes…and I can only imagine this ebook is chock full of them too!

Thanks for all the encouragement, both in parenting and in cooking healthy. I’m trying to cut back on processed foods, and your recipes and hints are WONDERFUL!
Cookies are right where we are at the moment…looking for ways to replace the Betty Crocker shortening and tons of sugar ones! Your breakfast cookies are a favorite in these parts. In fact, we ate them this morning!
Love this websight!!!!
