Who’s ready to make dinner time easier and less stressful? Who’s interested in saving money and eating healthier? Join us for our fun and easy Take Ten Challenge!
Take ten minutes each morning to make dinner prep in the evening much easier! Ready to learn how?
What’s great about this “challenge” is that it’s really not so challenging at all. In fact, all the tips, suggestions, and challenges we’re going to offer should really make your life much, much easier. If you ask me, the actual dinner challenge really comes in not being prepared, in giving in to spending extra money on take-out, in feeling sluggish after eating a less-than-wholesome meal, and in becoming discouraged because we just don’t like cooking or just don’t know how to “get it together” in the kitchen.
The Take Ten Challenge is here to help.
Here’s how it works:
The Take Ten Challenge
Cost: $17.
What: You’ll receive step-by-step instructions and recipes to help you put meals on the table with an easy 10-minute morning prep! You’ll receive a complete grocery list to get you started. Then each evening of your 10-day challenge, you’ll receive an email containing tomorrow’s Take Ten Challenge information.

How it works: After you sign up, we’ll immediately send you a complete grocery list and all the information you’ll need to know as we launch the challenge.
What you need to do: Read the simple information, grab the (inexpensive, basic, real food) groceries, and be ready to dive in two days after you sign up. (Hint: For the first meal and challenge, you only need 2 simple ingredients. Hooray!)
Then what: Watch for the first Take Ten Challenge email to arrive at 7:00 pm CST two days after you sign up. It’ll look something like this:
When each email arrives, plan to spend about 10 minutes (or less?!) the following morning doing whatever the Take Ten challenge suggests that you do. That evening, complete the final preparations, then enjoy an easy meal around the table with your family!

This sounds great!
Laura,
This sounds great but are recipes made with bottled marinades & sauces that have all the junk we have been trying to avoid? Thanks.
No, almost all the ingredients are real food! As for the marinade, most certainly you can use your favorite homemade sauce or salad dressing!
I am excited for this! However, I won’t be able to do *all* the challenges because our family is flying back overseas next week after being in the States for the summer. Hoping it will give me some good and simple ideas for getting back into the swing of meals there once we land. I so enjoy this blog!
I am so excited to try this challenge. How many servings do the recipes make? We have a larger-than-average family, and I want to make sure the shopping list as written will be enough for us.
They make 4 servings so you’d need to shop accordingly (double the amounts probably!).
Which part should we send pictures of – morning prep or finished meal?
And where do we send pictures?
You are welcome to send either a pic of the morning or the finished product – your choice! At the end of the challenge, you can send all the pictures to my email: laura @heavenlyhomemakers.com . :)
Laura I am really liking this so far! I have made minor variations (for example instead of rice with veggies, I made veggie fried rice adding fried egg and onion etc. and threw the leftover chicken in it from the night before for Stir Fry Bowls challenge #2) and I’m taking a photo each day.
If there is a challenge for next time where one can win a prize, hopefully there will be like a 3-4 extra day window instead of 2 so any leftovers can be eaten up and nothing spoils.
Also, I kept track of what I spent. Mind you, I was sad and a little despondent because we just got home after taking first child to college, so saving $$ wasn’t top of mind. I was just throwing things in cart and wanted to get out of the store asap. While I bought lots of other things to use later, I added up what I spent for this challenge and it was $168. Not bad considering 10 meals for 4 people @ $4.20 per person per meal. This doesn’t even consider that these 10 meals for my family can easily be stretched 2-3 more days due to leftovers AND if I were to repeat these recipes, I’d shop all I could at Aldi instead of the more expensive chain I went to. THANKS FOR ALL THE WORK YOU PUT INTO THIS!
P.S. I used your honey BBQ marinade recipe for challenge#1. I used Caribbean jerk to marinade 1# of chicken breasts which my husband grilled and I used your honey BBQ recipe for chicken thighs which I cooked on low thru the day in the crock pot. Some of my peeps like white meat but I prefer dark meat.
I have only received up to Day 5. Is that where we are or did I somehow miss the emails?
Yes, we have completed 1-5. We’re taking the weekend off, then will pick up with challenges 6-10 on Monday. You’ll receive Challenge 6 on Sunday evening!
